Responsibilities Manage all aspects of accounting: billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting (including inventory accounting and revenue recognition), payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and various special analyses. Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations. Ensure accurate, timely analysis and reporting of financial information. Prepare and audit schedules related to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close processes for specific assigned accounts; participate in monthly budget vs. actual meetings with the financial planning and analysis team and investigate variances. Advise on financial analyses and decision‑making regarding capital investments, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and the chief financial officer. Define, benchmark, and implement operational best practices. Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting. Produce a complete set of financial statements including a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and cash flow statement. Monitor cash and funding balances. Execute flux analysis and initial variance analysis and commentary from prior periods. Monitors and enforces effective internal controls around the documentation, tracking, accounting, and reporting of accounting treatment, including technical GAAP considerations and the impact of change on the business. Evaluate workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient operations and identify opportunities for process improvement. Lead the external audit process by preparing schedules, locating supporting documents, and responding to inquiries. Qualifications Operating experience in a technology operating company with exposure to venture capital and/or private equity expectations. Experience in technology and SaaS business models. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in accounting, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred. Previous experience as a Controller or senior manager. Excellent computer skills; proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations. Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations. Attention to detail. Ability to work well with senior executives and team, and mentor/lead other team members.
