Who we are looking for: BDC is looking for a skilled, highly motivated, detail oriented professional to join our growing team as Controller. As a key member of the team, this individual will be an integral member of a growing team of hard‑working and experienced professionals. The role will handle high‑level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee financial activities within multiple portfolio companies. As a leader within the One Dragon Services Finance department, you will support the Early‑Stage Partners and assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. The candidate will have a strong operational background in managing the accounting function of technology‑based operating companies and experience working with professional investors (VC/PE) and delivering expectations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage all aspects of accounting: billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses. Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations. Ensure accurate, timely analysis and reporting of financial information. Prepare and audit schedules related to monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close process for specific assigned accounts; participate in monthly budget vs. actual meetings with the financial planning and analysis and investigate variances as necessary. Advise on financial analyses and decision‑making regarding capital investments, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and the chief financial officer. Define, benchmark, and implement operational best practices. Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting. Produce a complete set of financial statements including a balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and cash flow; monitor cash and funding balances. Execute flux analysis and initial variance analysis and commentary from prior periods. Monitor and enforce effective internal controls around the documentation, tracking, accounting, and reporting of accounting treatment including technical GAAP considerations and impact to the business of change. Evaluate workflow processes and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient operations and opportunities for process improvement. Lead the external audit process by preparing schedules, locating supporting documents, and responding to inquiries. About You: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred. Previous experience as a Controller or senior manager. Excellent computer skills; proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations. Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations. Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members. Attention to detail.
