Latin America Credit Risk Manager

Citi continues to enhance its business control and governance framework by building out Institutional Credit Management (ICM), a function in the first line of defense, to house and consistently manage credit risk activities.
ICM's objective is to provide integrated end-to-end credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, and monitoring for wholesale credit risk across the enterprise. Within ICM, the Credit Underwriting function provides analysis, greenlighting, underwriting, first-line-of-defense credit approval, and subsequent credit monitoring across all ICG wholesale credit businesses, including Banking, Capital Markets, and Advisory (BCMA), Global Structured Products, Financings, and Securitizations (GSP-F&S), Treasury & Trade Services (TTS), Markets, and Securities Services (MSS).
The Underwriter covers relationships within the South Cluster (Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay) and is responsible for underwriting activities in partnership with Banking, IRAU, and Risk. This role reports directly to the South Cluster Head of ICM Underwriting.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will execute all responsibilities related to underwriting, including adopting leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring. This involves an end-to-end underwriting process from early origination discussions to development of credit approval memos and senior approval forums.
Detailed review of financial analysis, due diligence, projection modeling, stress testing, risk ratings, and other in-depth analysis performed by junior resources is also required.
The candidate must review and approve Credit Approval Memos (CAM) packages, partner with Front Office on structuring and production of term sheets for new transactions, facilitate relationships with key internal clients in Banking and Risk, and support ICM Underwriting organization on strategic initiatives as needed.
Specific Risk Experience:
A senior credit approval authority covering underwritings, capital commitments, derivatives, and multi-industry experience is essential. The ideal candidate should have exposure to global credit risk management standards and be able to understand capital markets products and complex financing and product structures.
The ability to provide strategic insights, sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues, and discuss allocation of risk assets and risk capital in partnership with banking and product organizations is also necessary.
Client Relationships/Business Partnership:
A proven ability to understand nuances of local markets, local regulation, and competitors' capabilities and practices is required. The successful candidate must navigate organizational complexity, break silos, create and sustain partnerships with the business, and provide well-reasoned assessments of risk/return trade-offs associated with transactions and client relationships.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should have 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in financial institutions with related roles. An academic background in related fields is also preferred. Proven ability to engage with internal control functions, including Internal Audit and Fundamental Credit Risk, demonstrates strong ethics and integrity, can make decisions under pressure, and has excellent verbal and written communication skills, both in English and Spanish, are must-haves.
Education:
