The Client Credit Assistant will manage the growing demand for revisions (i.e. matter reassignment requests) and client credit reports. Filing communications and updating the Retired Partner Representative are crucial aspects of the role.

The Assistant will need to become familiar with the law firm environment and the BM Client Credit Rules and processes, particularly the local office client credit structure and operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop a firm understanding of the BM Client Credit Rules, Interpretations, and Procedures. Training sessions and a thorough study of the client credit manual will be required
  • File pertinent communications from the Client Credit Administration Outlook mailbox to our internal database, OnBase
  • Fulfil matter reassignment requests from attorneys per the B&M Client Credit Rules. This will require a thorough review of the scope of work and fees before entering data into our rewards system software, CCOasys. Communications regarding reassignment requests must be properly archived in OnBase
  • Update internal reports on the corporate structure of BM clients. This will require online research with the aid of Hoovers Dun & Bradstreet
  • Manage requests for files, reports, or status updates from attorneys, Client Credit Coordinators, and the Retired Partner Representative
  • Analyse and process financial sharing agreements between attorneys, such as Rules 9, 10, and 12, per the B&M Client Credit Rules
  • In SharePoint, publish Semi-Monthly Arrangement Reports on our BakerWorld page in a timely fashion
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Some demonstrable finance experience in a professional services environment preferred
  • Law firm paralegal or finance experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel (i.e. sorting, pivot tables, and basic formulas)
  • Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be an exceptional reader
  • Technical/computer skills
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to also work with mínimal supervision and take initiative
  • Keen attention to detail and effective organizational skills
  • Effective time management ability and prioritization are essential to meet deadlines
  • Ability to think analytically
  • Ability to produce quality results under significant time constraints
  • Exceptional ability to work and produce results within a group as well as individually
  • Willingness to do what is necessary to complete assigned tasks
