Oil Risk and Market Analyst (Regional Office) Trafigura Main Purpose Founded in 1993, Trafigura is one of the largest physical commodities trading groups in the world. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent interpersonal skills Strong numerical skills Teamwork Intermediate or advanced Excel knowledge Ability to work under pressure Report‑writing skills Ability to use multiple systems simultaneously Strong work ethic and organisational skills Knowledge of physical, derivatives and underlying transactional instruments (preferred but not mandatory) Experience in position, exposure and commercial PnL reporting (a plus) Key Responsibilities Maintain data integrity across platforms used for PnL and exposure reporting. Setup and validate inception profit and loss for physical deals, ensuring accurate inclusion of freight, demurrage, finance, hedging and pricing. Monitor daily changes in PnL and exposure due to market conditions, economics, basis risk, and mark‑to‑market values, and produce daily variance commentary. Ensure basis risk and volumetric positions are correct and initiate appropriate hedging or pricing actions to mitigate risk. Guarantee correct allocation of trade executions within the trading system. Reconcile estimates used in PnL with final invoice values to confirm statutory accuracy and support trade ledgers. Continuously review and upgrade processes and systems to improve reporting accuracy and timeliness. Key Relationships and Department Overview The role collaborates closely with local and regional trading, operations, finance, accounting, contracts, FX and invoicing teams, as well as Deals Desk global teams and management. The Deals Desk is responsible for the group’s trading PnL reporting and hedging requirements for both physical and paper positions, and acts as an independent control department analysing risk arising from business activities.
