The firm is a leader in investment banking, financial services for consumers, small business and commercial banking, financial transaction processing, asset management, and private equity.
The Legal Department has a number of key operations to meet our obligations to various regulatory oversight and investigative bodies as necessary. This includes obligations to regulatory bodies of legal entities, both domestic and international that regulate our business as well as to civil and criminal investigation authorities or adversarial counsel. Legal is organized by Practice Groups that conform to the organization of the Firm’s line of business and corporate staff areas. Each Practice Group has a General Counsel who is the Practice Group Head and who reports to the Firm’s General Counsel. This structure provides the means for the Legal teams to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the business and staff areas and for the lines of business and staff areas to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to the Legal teams in a timely manner.
The In-house Legal Support Team (ILS) partners with senior management, control groups, lines of business and corporate units to promote effective governance of the Firm, its branches, subsidiaries and affiliates. It operates through a corporate team and three regional hubs, in NAMR, EMEA and APAC. We are looking for a Legal Operations Senior Associate to be based in Buenos Aires and to support the OTS Global Corporate Governance Support Team (GCGS).
Position Overview
The Legal Operations role leverages internal tools to perform their daily duties, produce metrics reports, identifies and investigates potential policy and process gaps, tracks and documents required actions and escalates issues appropriately.
Job responsibilities:
- Corporate Governance Oversight
- Track and monitor compliance with the Global Corporate Governance Policy
- Internally track and monitor the compliance with the jurisdictional statutory filings requirements
- Provide support to CGCs on corporate governance and filings matters
- Manage the identification and reporting of gaps between current policies and procedures
- Partner with Technology team for successful delivery of initiatives using Agile methodologies
- Report technical issues and make recommendations to development team
- Provide guidance and support to key stakeholders, Lines of Business (LOB), and Regional Representatives
- Produce monthly metrics for forums with senior management for Corporate Governance matters
- Manage Audit requests
- Manage small/medium scale projects or other process improvement initiatives
- Identify and escalate any risk and control issues when appropriate
- Work effectively with legal documents, excel spreadsheets, powerpoint decks, use cases, story boards, process flows, and project plans
- Proactively review current processes in order to determine improvements and document best practices
- Identify major issues and actionable opportunities, synthesize findings and develop recommendations in accordance with the Global Corporate Governance Policy and regulatory requirements
**Qualifications**:
- At least 5 years’ experience within Corporate Legal
- Highly flexible professional with stellar analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent end-to-end generalist problem solving skills and ability to prioritize issues and analysis
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills - ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and achieve goals without direct control over resources
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with multiple teams, coordinating across different cross-functional initiatives, and reaching consensus with diverse stakeholders
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated, strong interest in learning, effective under pressure and willing to take personal responsibility/accountability
- Proven record of developing and presenting senior management level presentations utilizing PowerPoint, Excel and other tools
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects/assignments against tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision to bring projects in on time
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or related Masters Degree is a plus
