The QA Specialist is responsible for evaluating and improving the quality of interpreter interactions to ensure compliance with client standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. This role requires previous experience as a medical interpreter (not document translation) , QA experience within a Language Service Provider (LSP) or BPO for medical interpretation , and hands‑on OPI and VRI interpretation experience . Key Responsibilities Monitor and evaluate live/recorded OPI and VRI sessions for accuracy, professionalism, and compliance. Score interpreter performance using standardized criteria and identify compliance gaps (HIPAA, ethics, confidentiality). Provide documented feedback, coaching recommendations, and participate in calibration sessions. Produce QA reports, track performance trends, and highlight risk areas. Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the interpreter community. Communicate trends and insights in QA meetings and support cross‑team collaboration. Provide coverage during peak volume, projects, or team absences. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous medical interpreting experience (not translation‑only). OPI and VRI interpreting experience is required. QA experience within an LSP or BPO supporting medical interpretation. 1+ year of experience in interpretation (medical, customer service, social, or legal). Strong reliability and history of high QA scores (if internal). Knowledge of HIPAA, interpreter ethics, and national standards. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s Degree or higher. Additional QA or training experience in interpretation environments. Excellent communication skills; strong understanding of interpreter protocols. Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize under pressure. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word). Collaborative and able to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
