Water Systems Consulting Inc. (WSC) is an integrated engineering and consulting firm that delivers our clients most challenging One Water solutions. We are seeking a part‑time, detail‑oriented Communications Support Coordinator to join our team in San Luis Obispo. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys building relationships across teams, and is passionate about delivering high‑quality communications that reflect WSC’s values and mission. We’re looking for someone based in or near San Luis Obispo who is comfortable traveling throughout San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties to strengthen community connections and lead in‑person outreach. What You Will Do Conceptualize, produce, write, review, and finalize content for reports, surveys, agendas, presentations, print, video, social, and web platforms. Facilitate and incorporate feedback to quickly implement edits and improvements. Perform technical editing and formatting for written documents. Plan and coordinate events both in‑person and virtual. Manage printing and production of collateral for events and meetings. Support business development and proposal preparation. Provide a variety of communication support tasks as needed. What You Bring 2 years of experience in marketing, public or community relations. Experience in the A/E/C industry is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, PR, English, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Commitment to sustainability and the environment. Strong skills in technical writing, editing, and formatting. Willingness and ability to travel up to 50 % of the time, with frequency varying based on project needs. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time‑management abilities. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Receptive to feedback and adaptable to change. Familiarity with technical writing and editing best practices. Experience facilitating stakeholder discussions, interactive workshops, and supporting community meetings and events. Experience in social media content development, design, and management. Preferred Experience in consulting, engineering, public agencies, or the water industry. Experience creating templates in PowerPoint and Word. Ability to coordinate photographers and videographers. Experience in website design and content development, preferably with WIX and WordPress. Understanding and experience with WCAG compliance in digital and print design. Experience using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Pay Range The pay range for this position is $27.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience.
