Our team of accomplished economists produce comprehensive research and analysis to help shape investment decisions, commercial strategy and risk management. We cater to a varied clientele of institutional investors and multinational firms.

Our Macro Research practice offers global top-down investment research. Our team of accomplished economists and strategists produce a wide-ranging suite of research services to guide asset allocation and absolute returns strategies. Unlike most macro shops, we rely on cutting-edge probability forecast models to quantify the upside and downside risks underlying investment decisions. The approach helps our clients monitor extreme events, and uncover opportunities often missed by market participants.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop, back-test, and maintain quantitative models for forecasting and structural analysis for key macroeconomic drivers, multiple asset classes, and selected industrial segments;
  • Work alongside Numera's software development team to manage our modeling / econometrics infrastructure, and contribute to internal package development;
  • Oversee the econometrics work of Numera's research economists, helping with best practices. Directly manage economists involved in modeling / quantitative work.
  • Conduct original research and produce in-depth quantitative analysis on global macro and investment themes, in support of Numera's various research publications;
  • Provide technical support to Numera's business development team for accounts and prospects with a systematic or semi-systematic profile that make active use of our probability forecasts and related proprietary indicators;

Requirements:

  • A MSc in Economics or Econometrics. An MSc in Quantitative Finance with an undergraduate degree in Economics is also acceptable;
  • Advanced econometrics modeling in R, MATLAB or Python. Experience with economic forecasting is important, including a proven ability to conduct forecast evaluation exercises;
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, which includes writing and maintaining code, including general knowledge of best practices. Experience in collaborating with multi-developer projects is important, as is version-control proficiency;
  • Experience conducting quantitative macroeconomic and/or investment research. Prior hands-on experience with equities, fixed income or commodities is a plus;
  • Fluency in English
    , including proven English writing skills. Although the position is based out of Buenos Aires, the workflow and communication with external clients is entirely in English.
