Description
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, security, and integrity of our database systems, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB. Your responsibilities will span database administration, performance optimization, backup and recovery, security enforcement, upgrades, disaster recovery planning, troubleshooting, data migration, documentation, automation, and adherence to cloud best practices.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Database Administration**: Manage and administer AWS-based databases, including Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB, ensuring high availability and data integrity.

**Performance Optimization**: Monitor and tune database performance to maintain optimal efficiency and responsiveness, proactively addressing performance bottlenecks.

**Backup and Recovery**: Implement and oversee database backup and recovery strategies to protect data and enable timely restoration when necessary.

**Database Security**: Implement and enforce security measures, access controls, and encryption protocols to safeguard sensitive data stored in databases.

**Database Upgrades and Patching**: Plan and execute database upgrades and patching, staying current with the latest releases and security fixes.

**Disaster Recovery**: Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, including failover and replication mechanisms, to ensure database resilience.

**Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution**: Identify and resolve database-related issues, collaborating closely with development teams and stakeholders.

**Data Migration**: Assist with database migration efforts, ensuring smooth data transfer and mínimal downtime during migrations.

**Documentation**: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

**Automation**: Identify opportunities for automation in database administration tasks and develop scripts or tools to streamline repetitive processes.

**Cloud Best Practices**: Stay informed about AWS cloud best practices and recommendations, implementing them in database management.

**Compliance and Auditing**: Ensure that databases adhere to regulatory compliance standards and participate in audits as required.

**Educational Qualifications**:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or another related scientific or technical discipline.

**Requirements**:
**General Experience**:
Minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator, managing diverse databases in an AWS cloud environment.
Expertise in administering Aurora Postgres, SQL Server RDS, Self-Managed SQL Server, and MongoDB databases.
Strong understanding of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practices.
Familiarity with AWS cloud services, IAM roles, and security groups for database administration.
Experience with database migration tools and techniques.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address database-related issues.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Database - Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are advantageous.
