Position: Database Engineer Migration at GlobalLogic. Description In the database engineering department, you will participate in a migration from SQL Server to PostgreSQL, maintaining data integrity and automating processes. Requirements Over 10 years of relevant industry experience. Extensive experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or other major RDBMS database systems. Proven track record of maintaining, analyzing, and debugging production systems on major cloud platforms such as AWS. Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Unix Shell, and Python. Experience debugging and maintaining production systems on cloud platforms such as AWS. Highly preferred candidates also have: Expertise in automating database migrations, schema conversions, and data validation pipelines. Proficiency in monitoring and supporting production services using observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry. Expertise in using cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Kubernetes. Job responsibilities Support large-scale database migration efforts from Microsoft SQL Server to AWS Aurora PostgreSQL. Support and maintain database systems during and after migration, ensuring high performance, security, scalability, and availability. Collaborate closely with various teams across the organization to enhance performance, security, scalability, availability, reliability, and observability of relational databases. Apply modern database management practices using DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines, automation tooling, and Infrastructure as Code for AWS-based data services. Design and manage database schemas, implement monitoring solutions, and optimize SQL queries and database system performance. Troubleshoot and diagnose database issues, effectively communicating root causes and solutions. Participate in incident response activities, ensuring quick and efficient resolution of database-related issues. Standardize observability practices for database telemetry, logs, and events to reduce mean time to identify issues. What we offer Culture of caring.
