**Role Overview**

As a **Data Governance Specialist**, you will be responsible for defining and implementing **data governance frameworks**, ensuring **data quality, security, and compliance** with regulatory standards. You will work closely with **Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and Compliance Teams** to establish policies and processes that **protect and optimize data assets**.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and enforce **data governance policies, standards, and best practices**.
- Ensure compliance with **GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and other data privacy regulations**.
- Define and maintain **data classification, metadata management, and data lineage tracking**.
- Implement **data security and access control measures** in cloud and on-prem environments.
- Collaborate with **engineering and business teams** to ensure **data accuracy and consistency**.
- Monitor and maintain **data quality metrics**, using automated validation and anomaly detection.
- Work with **Data Engineers** to implement **data cataloging and master data management (MDM)** solutions.
- Drive **data stewardship programs** across the organization to promote a data-driven culture.
- Provide **training and awareness** on data governance policies and best practices.
- Evaluate and implement **data governance tools** such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or Talend.

**Required Skills & Experience**
- Strong understanding of **data governance frameworks, data privacy, and compliance**:

- Experience with **data quality management and master data management (MDM)**.
- Hands-on experience with **data governance tools** (Collibra, Talend, Informatica, Alation).
- Knowledge of **metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging techniques**.
- Familiarity with **SQL, NoSQL, and cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)**.
- Experience in **data security, access control, and risk management**.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience in **AI/ML data governance** and ethical AI practices.
- Certifications in **Data Governance, Data Privacy, or Information Security (e.g., DCAM, CDMP, CIPP)**.
- Experience with **automated data validation, anomaly detection, and compliance monitoring**.
- Knowledge of **data lakehouse architectures and cloud-based data governance models**.
- Familiarity with **data ethics, responsible AI, and fair data practices**.
