Data Engineer Responsibilities:
- Build systems and datasets using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, recent advances in distributed systems, and operational excellence best practices.
- Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies
- Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements
- Maintain and optimize existing data pipeline and reporting architecture
- Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement
- Work with stakeholder teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
Data Engineer Qualifications:
- At least 3 years experience as a Data Engineer in a Big Data environment
- Hands-on experience with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, Golang, Typescript
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. Postgres, Cassandra)
- Familiarity with AWS cloud technologies such as Elastic Map Reduce (EMR), Kinesis, Athena, Redshift, DataPipeline
- Familiarity with big data tools (e.g. Hadoop, Spark)
Data Engineer Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with Panoploy
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders across data implementation projects
- Experience with BI tools such as Tableau to create visualizations and dashboards for various data quality metrics.
