**Overview**
The Department of Noncommunicable Diseases and Mental Health (NMH) at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)/Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) seeks a skilled Public Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in promoting, coordinating, and implementing technical cooperation activities related to the prevention, control, and surveillance of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs).

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Health Specialist to lead and coordinate efforts to make Latin America smoke-free. The successful candidate will provide technical guidance to country offices on smoke-free policies, support capacity building activities, and collaborate with teams to implement strategies to reduce NCDs. The specialist will also contribute to the development of technical resources, including presentations, reports, and factsheets, and engage with stakeholders to exchange critical information and resolve challenges.

Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate efforts to execute grant objectives, timeline, milestones, and deliverables related to smoke-free Latin America
- Provide technical guidance to country offices on smoke-free policies and implementation
- Support capacity building activities, including in-country missions, workshops, and events
- Collaborate with teams to develop and implement strategies to reduce NCDs
- Contribute to the development of technical resources, including presentations, reports, and factsheets

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social or health science, environmental health, law, or a related field
- 7 years of combined national and international experience in public health, public policy, or socio-economic development
- Technical expertise in tobacco control, public policy, international affairs, global health, and public health
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, strong professional oral and writing skills, and ability to prepare funding proposals
