**The Role**:

- What’s the role -_

The Facilities Engineer provides technical support for the day-to-day operation of rotating equipment, pressure equipment, piping systems, tanks, and other mechanical process equipment for the Martinez and Pittsburg Catalyst Manufacturing Plants. This role will also assure compliance with pressure equipment regulations and applicable industry and company codes, standards, and recommended practices. They prepare equipment operating guidelines for the sites, advise on API inspection results, and oversee new equipment installations and repairs to ensure Shell and local standards are met. This individual will work closely with the plant’s PEI Inspectors, maintenance, reliability, and process engineering staff.

Accountabilities
- Work with maintenance and reliability engineer to create equipment repair plans.
- Lead RCA (root cause analysis) investigations on all equipment issues to determine the cause or suspected cause of failure.
- Assist in defining Turnaround work scopes.
- Provides technical assurance on MOCs (management of change) for pressure equipment, piping, or other mechanical equipment.
- Work with the plant’s electrical and instrumentation staff on any electrical system remediations.
- Liaise with Shell technical experts for an issue outside of their skill set.
- Provide technical expertise and collaborate with consultants/specialists on equipment specification and selection.
- Support or lead small equipment, vessel, and piping replacement projects.
- Coordinate with Shell discipline engineers on capital project reviews.
- Assist Pressure Equipment Inspectors in analyzing collected data from inspection events.
- Work with the Pressure Equipment Inspector on vessel repair plans.
- Oversee pressure equipment integrity program.
- Possess a working knowledge of applicable vessel and tank codes, standards, and recommended practices.
- Participate in audits (safety, environmental, operational, measurement, etc.) as required and complete engineering-related tasks that result from these assessments.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZIDs, HEMP studies, ITPs, and PSSRs
- What we need from you - _
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering preferred. Other degrees considered with relevant manufacturing experience.
- At least three plus (3+) years’ experience in Chemical/Industrial/Catalyst manufacturing environment supporting manufacturing.
- Previous knowledge of catalyst manufacturing/solids handling desirable
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Experience with causal learning and root cause analysis processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of API codes 510, 570, 620, and 653
- Ability to travel as required for training and company business
- Knowledge of county, state, and federal environmental regulations is desirable
- Ability to multi-task and balance long and short-term goal
- Can present complex topics in simple and understandable terms

The base salary range for this position is $101, 000 - $151, 000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
