**Your role**
As a Junior Corporate _Paralegal _, you will be a member of the Legal International team and will provide support to the Global Employment & Labour and EMEA Legal teams. You will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel, Global Employment and Labour. This role provides a great deal of variety. On any given day, you could be asked to conduct research on multiple employment/labour law and related issues as well as Geo Political and regulatory topics affecting our business; gather, consolidate, communicate and store information related to legislative changes; assist with multiple projects related to commercial transactions, contract management, contingent workers, global benefits, and other related trends in the industry.

The right person for this role is adaptable, dependable, organized, and detail oriented.

As a member of the Legal team, not only will you be a critical driver of various policies related to employment matters, but you will also liaise with external law firms, HR professionals across the globe and other stakeholders to ensure that Ciena’s employment, immigration, and labour practices are consistent and standardized globally, and compliant with local laws and Ciena’s core values.

You will also provide support to the EMEA team working with the team on a range of topics, including carrying out research on business impacting regulations and legislative changes across a diverse region and assisting the team in presenting the findings to the business; working with Ciena templates, reviewing standard form and commercial contracts; assisting the team with compliance training content and delivery to the business teams; and participating in projects from corporate reorganization to optimizing the Legal team's use of tools and technology.

**What type of work environment will you be working within? Who are the key teams with whom you will interact?**
You will work in collaboration with other members of the Ciena Legal organization and external lawyers. You will interact with all Human Resources functions, including Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards and functional and regional HR Business Partners. You will also interact with various members of the EMEA sales team and related functions.

**What technical experience and/or professional and personal skills are required for this role?**
- great verbal and written communication skills (in English);
- legal research experience;
- Legal drafting experience (contract templates, policies, etc.);
- project management experience;
- the ability to process and analyze data;
