Commercial & Market Access Director
Main Purpose:
The Commercial & Access Chapter Lead will be responsible for leading the Commercial & Access Chapter across the Cono Sur region, which includes Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Bolivia, and Paraguay. This position, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, will ensure excellence in the execution of Commercial and Market Access strategies, achieving targets focused on sustainable growth, revenue generation, and market leadership. The Chapter Lead will effectively manage the portfolio, resources, and capabilities while anticipating customer and market needs, positioning Bayer as a key player in the market by balancing short, medium, and long-term priorities. Additionally, the role will provide vision, direction, coaching, and accountability to all Product Teams and Customer Teams, ensuring proper upskilling and shared ownership.
Key Responsibilities Outputs:
- Full P&L accountability, ensuring the achievement of business financial objectives through competitive Commercial & Market Access strategies.
- Excellence in the execution of commercial plans to meet Pharma targets, ensuring proper alignment of commercial strategies with brand needs.
- Develop, execute, and control the commercial policy for Pharma brands in Cono Sur, adhering to high standards of compliance.
- Develop and implement Market Access strategies to secure proper reimbursement and coverage of Bayer products in treatment guidelines by key payers, including HMOs, National Formularies, and National Health Programs.
- Establish robust relationships with key payers, including the Ministry of Health (State and National), HMOs, wholesalers, pharmacies, and key hospitals, positioning Bayer as a differentiated player in the market.
- Identify new commercial opportunities for partnerships with third parties to enhance brand performance in Cono Sur.
- Represent Bayer at the Pharma Industry Chamber in Market Access Committees, shaping the pharmaceutical market through sustainable programs and fostering innovative contracting models.
- Collaborate and partner with key internal stakeholders to ensure proper resource allocation and prioritization to drive a competitive business.
- Act as VACC leader for the Sales & Access Key Account Managers, Market Access Strategists, and the internal commercial team.
- Build a strong, collaborative, and diverse team, fostering a high-performance culture and excellence in execution.
- Be a visionary leader, communicating the company vision and brand objectives, co-creating with external stakeholders, and maximizing value for Bayer customers.
- Lead with purpose and recognize talent, inspiring team members to pursue their career opportunities and develop new capabilities.
- Empower teams to take ownership and accountability, ensuring a fast decision-making process and reducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Encourage team members to speak up, take balanced risks, and evolve through rapid learning, creating a psychologically safe space for innovative ideas and testing.
- Create a capability cluster plan to continue developing employees' skills in commercial strategies, market access, financial acumen, competitive intelligence, and sales forecasting.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field; Post-graduation or MBA desirable.
- Languages: Fluent in Spanish and English.
- Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar position or managerial experience in Pharmaceutical Market Access & Sales with a proven track record.
- In-depth understanding of the Pharmaceutical Argentinean market, including Access, Sales, and local Commercial regulations.
- Experience in multi-country management is desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership skills (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coaching).
- Financial and analytical skills, including sales forecasting.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Customer-oriented with a strong execution focus.
- Negotiation skills, particularly with governmental bodies and health organizations.
- Ability to integrate commercial strategies with product teams and enhance collaboration between sales and market access functions.
Additional Information:
- Travel Requirements: This position requires travel within the region.
- Work Environment: The role is based in Munro, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
