Technical Specialist in Emission Drivers and Macroeconomic Analysis United Nations Result of ServiceCBIT’s most important contribution will be to strengthen Argentina’s reporting capacities so as to adequately comply with the requirements of the Enhanced Transparency Framework through the new reporting format under the Paris Agreement: the Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR). In order to carry out the activities of Argentina’s CBIT project it requires the hiring of a Technical Specialist in Emission Drivers and Macroeconomic Analysis. The ultimate result of the service is to ensure the technical quality of products linked with macroeconomic indicators, provide technical advice on macroeconomic variables, collaborate in technical workshops and trainings, improve projection estimates and enhance GHG emissions projection scenarios using econometric methods. Responsibilities Collaborate with the NCCD in the analysis of mitigation costs for all intervening actors (public and private), impact of the measures with respect to GDP and other macroeconomic indicators. Collaborate with data gathering, processing, systematization, and data entry on macroeconomic indicators and models used for macroeconomic projections. Participate in the development of the national long‑term strategy towards a low‑carbon economy. Attend periodic meetings with relevant stakeholders (bilaterally or with more than one actor as required) within the GHG inventory sectors through the NCCC and other related sectors to ensure consistency and proper allocation of mitigation actions. Participate and collaborate with the analysis of historical emissions, development of indicators and identification of trends in the different sectors of the GHG inventory. Research and collaborate in the identification of emissions drivers, identify correlations and cause‑effect linkages especially for the sectors driven by economic growth. Participate in the development of projection methodologies and models, considering the historical emissions, economic projections and drivers. Participate in the sensitivity analysis of the projection, identification of key variables and assessment and reporting of results. Collaborate with the preparation of communication and dissemination materials linked with the LTS and sectoral mitigation measures. Collaborate with the development of a database according to the initial proposal of institutional arrangements for climate finance reporting, in close collaboration with the climate finance expert of Argentina’s CBIT. Collaborate in the development and proposal of standardized reporting templates and guidelines aimed at collecting relevant data to continuously track the support received and provided, in close collaboration with the climate finance expert of Argentina’s CBIT. Participate in international dialogues regarding BTRs provisions related to climate finance reporting, provide recommendations to improve Argentina’s tracking system and keep track of international negotiation regarding financial transparency. Collaborate in the assessment of the information available on climate finance, support received and provided including sources of information and relevant stakeholders, taking into account BTR requirements. Assess the reports of the Standing Committee on Finance. Deliverables: Analysis report including models used for macroeconomic projections. Report with the identified drivers, macroeconomic indicators and mitigation costs. Report including macroeconomic scenarios, methodological procedures, assumptions and key parameters along with the respective spreadsheets and documents. Communication and information materials; PowerPoint presentations (or other formats) and communication pieces related to LTS background.
