Data Team Lead

The position is hybrid (home office + 2 days per week on-site in Córdoba), full-time (8 hours per day), long-term , with monthly compensation in US Dollars . An intermediate to advanced English level is required. About the role We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Data Team Lead / Data Architect to design, evolve, and optimize our data ecosystem while leading a growing data team. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of our current platforms while driving the modernization of our data architecture , introducing best practices in data engineering, automation, and scalable system design. This role combines hands-on technical leadership , architectural ownership, and people management. Current infrastructure Postgres-based data warehouse Pentaho for ETL processes You will own the technical roadmap to evolve this stack toward modern, cloud-native data platforms. Key responsibilities Lead and mentor the data engineering and data science teams, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement. Define and execute the roadmap for data infrastructure and architecture modernization. Act as the primary data architect, defining data models, integration patterns, and technical standards. Partner with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to align data initiatives with business goals. Identify and drive opportunities to apply AI and advanced analytics across the organization. Data Engineering & Architecture Oversee the development, maintenance, and monitoring of ETL/ELT pipelines (currently Pentaho). Manage and optimize the Postgres data warehouse for scalability and performance. Supervise integrations with MySQL production systems, ensuring data quality and reliability. Evaluate and introduce modern data tools and platforms (Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, modern ELT tools). Promote automation, CI/CD for data pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code practices. Explore and implement AI and LLM-based solutions to improve data workflows and generate business value. Design strategies for real-time and streaming data processing where applicable. Analytics & Governance Collaborate with BI teams to deliver trusted insights using Tableau and potential future BI tools. Ensure data governance, security, and compliance best practices. Qualifications Technical Strong experience with MySQL and Postgres in production environments. Solid background in ETL/ELT pipelines and workflow orchestration. Proven expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and system integration. Experience with BI tools such as Tableau. Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Experience with modern data tools (dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, Fivetran, etc.). Experience applying AI/ML/LLM solutions in real-world business contexts. Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken). Leadership 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or team lead role. Strong people management and mentoring skills. Excellent communication skills, able to bridge technical and business discussions. Curious mindset and passion for innovation. Nice to have Experience in OTA, travel, or e-commerce environments. Knowledge of real-time streaming technologies (Kafka, Kinesis). Familiarity with data governance regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
