About the Role We are searching for a highly motivated individual to lead the LatAm Marketplace & Road Safety efforts in LATAM If you like working in a fast paced environment, solving and identifying real safety problems and translating them into clear and concrete actions this is the perfect position. This role is part of Uber’s Safety Operations team - within the Global Safety organization, but also embedded deeply with the LATAM business. In this role you will need to have a solid foundation in Operations management, being able to handle several work streams from a strategic perspective and at the same time deep dive in the details to identify gaps and/or improvement opportunities. Prioritisation and sense of urgency are also critical, as the vertical directly impacts our user’s most critical experiences. This person will be key to identify the region’s main problems by gathering insights, work closely with product and global operations teams supporting the development of the right solutions, and rollout features throughout LATAM countries. They will need to have the ability to work with outstanding team members and excellent teamwork abilities given the cross‑functional and cross‑regional intricacies of bringing sophisticated programs to life. Being a part of Uber’s Safety team means you will be working on one of our company’s main priorities which is providing for our users and communities safer ways to earn and safer ways to move thus igniting opportunity What You’ll Do Insight Gathering: Gather and provide compelling data about the key problems for the region. Safety Solutions: Be responsible for the safety experience throughout the trip completion and develop initiatives to decrease negative experiences and increase the safety sentiment. Product launches: Partner with product, engineering, and regional cross‑functional teams (legal, privacy, comms & policy), and local ops to plan and prepare for product launches, developing playbooks and ensuring a smooth execution of experiment and pilots. Strategy and Vision: Set the long term strategy and vision for Marketplace and Road Safety in the region, clearly defining the short and long term goals, as well as the roadmap for execution. Challenge the status quo and work with the team to develop business cases to build solutions and products to solve identified issues. Build Internal Relationships: Work with collaborators across mobility and delivery to deepen business expertise and to effectively represent and bring forward Safety programs and products. Improve Processes: Identify operational and structural weaknesses and help improve existing or develop new processes to keep us as efficient as possible, optimizing for funnel conversion and cost reduction. Partner with local teams and data science to identify improvement opportunities for existing features. Analytics and Data Management: Lead the analytical deep dives on safety trends, marketplace impact and critical issues. Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams on model management to optimize for the overall market. What You’ll Need 5+ years of related experience Experience in vision setting, planning, setting metrics, and roadmap development Demonstrated decision‑making skill. You think critically about all angles of a problem, digging in deeper where needed, and make forward‑thinking long‑term decisions. Comfortable making decisions in an uncertain scenario. Clear, concise and objective communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with partners coming from both technical and non‑technical backgrounds. Critical thinking. You break down broad problems to build prioritized forward‑thinking action plans. Ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work with remote teams and across time zones to develop strategies and foster a cohesive and creative work environment. Grittiness. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands‑on; you persevere when others fall away. Negotiation: Basic knowledge of negotiation skills. Strong stakeholder management: Effectively navigate through the organization, influencing discussions at the highest levels and a demonstrated ability to find common ground and align cross‑functional stakeholders and teams with conflicting agendas. Advanced analytical skills to x‑ray large data sets and collect insights. Understand the basics of Machine learning models. Proficiency with numbers, spreadsheets, models, and data visualizations. Research skills: asking the right questions, collecting the necessary data, and performing rigorous analysis. Solid understanding of statistical fundamentals: descriptive statistics, probability distributions, tests of hypotheses, confidence intervals, regressions, and experiments.
