Mine Operations Superintendent

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mine Operation Superintendent to lead the ramp-up and day-to-day execution of mining activities at our new open pit copper mine. This is a key leadership role responsible for establishing operational systems, building a high-performance team, and ensuring safe, efficient, and sustainable mining practices from construction through to full production. You will oversee the operation of a diverse fleet of heavy earthmoving equipment, including 150-ton and ultra-class haul trucks, loaders, graders, dozers, and drills. Your leadership will be key to achieving optimal equipment utilisation, maintaining high operational efficiency, and ensuring full compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of mine operations strategies, systems, and procedures for a Greenfields site. Oversee daily mining activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and waste management. Manage and mentor frontline supervisors, operators, and support staff to ensure operational excellence. Collaborate with Technical Services, Maintenance, and Safety teams to align operational plans with mine design and production targets. Monitor KPIs and operational performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Support the commissioning of mining equipment and infrastructure. Contribute to budgeting, cost control, and resource planning Qualifications, Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience). 15+ years of experience in open pit mining operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role. Proven experience in greenfields or mine start-up environments. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent understanding of mine planning, production scheduling, and operational workflows.
