Senior Accountant

Summary The Lead Accountant and Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist plays a critical leadership role in managing and optimizing the accounts receivable functions, overseeing invoicing, collections, reconciliation, and revenue recognition processes. This position not only ensures the accuracy and timeliness of all AR operations but also provides accounting oversight and reporting support. Acting as a bridge between finance and operations, the Lead Accountant will supervise AR activities, GL activities, and help guide junior staff, and contribute to overall financial integrity and decision-making for INTUS Windows. Performance objectives Lead AR functions: invoicing, collections, cash applications, credit memos, and reconciliations. Review and approve all AR transactions for accuracy and compliance with policies. Drive & leads weekly AR forecasting and prepares aging reports with collection strategies. Ensure all invoices and supporting documentation (including SOVs and tax exemption forms) are accurate and compliant. Own GL and AR month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring proper revenue recognition and reconciliation. Supervise GL & AR account reconciliations including Revenue, Customer Prepayments, and Allowance for Bad Debts, and other accounts. Act as a key contributor in financial audits including providing requested data by internal or external auditors. Ensure compliance with tax regulations, state-specific lien requirements, and construction documentation standards. Review, maintain, and update Certificates of Insurance (COIs), lien waivers, and contracts. Oversee the maintenance of customer financial records and ensure data integrity across QuickBooks and ERP systems. Recommend and implement process enhancements for AR systems and procedures. Provide support and training across departments on AR related policies and procedures. Support the transition and optimization of ERP tools (NetSuite) for better reporting and automation. Mentor and guide junior accounting or AR staff as the team grows. Participation during the annual/monthly/weekly budgeting or forecasting processes for the cash inflow projections Performs other duties as assigned. Key competencies Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes, GAAP accounting, and AR best practices Deep knowledge of construction accounting, lien laws, tax-exempt status, and industry documentation. Proficient leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential financial data with discretion and integrity. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve account discrepancies. Understanding of tax exemption certificates and pre-qualification forms. Experience in preparing for and assisting with annual audits. Adaptability and willingness to accept changes and seek continuous improvement opportunities. Education and experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounts receivable and general accounting. Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry highly preferred. Strong experience in QuickBooks and enterprise ERP platforms. What we offer Remote work opportunity.
