WhoYou Are: Facilities technicians play a crucial role in the smooth operation and readiness of CSL's base infrastructure. They are responsible for maintaining and repairing various aspects of the facility, including buildings, utilities, and equipment. Their job involves constructing, repairing, and modifying all types of structures from the foundation up to the rooftops. They utilize their specialized skill sets, materials, tools, and equipment to allow them to effectively build, repair or enhance any structure that is necessary for the functioning of the CSL facility. Such structures may include wooden buildings, masonry structures, and concrete buildings. Ensure that all buildings and structures are well-maintained and in good working conditions. This includes repairing any damage or defects that may arise over time due to wear and tears or external factors. Technicians must possess a thorough understanding of building materials and construction techniques in order to effectively repair various types of structures. WhatYou’ll Do: The Facilities Technician is tasked with performing maintenance operations in accordance with established industry standards, ensuring that all activities are carried out in a manner that maximizes both efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and best practices. A core responsibility is the identification and diagnosis of operational failures within the facility. This includes plumbing malfunctions, issues with the septic or sewer systems, and challenges associated with the operation of specialized systems such as the Wastewater Treatment Plant or Chlorinator Plant. The technician is expected to apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve these issues efficiently. The technician is responsible for the execution of remodeling, renovation, and replacement tasks within the facility, often in collaboration with external contractors. These tasks must be performed in strict adherence to building codes, regulatory standards, and best engineering practices, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with safety protocols. The technician oversees the preparation and painting of both exterior and interior surfaces, ensuring that all painting tasks adhere to high standards of craftsmanship. Surface preparation must be conducted meticulously to guarantee optimal adhesion, durability, and aesthetic quality of finishes. The technician possesses advanced proficiency in carpentry, which includes both rough and finish carpentry, framing, and the restoration of facility walls, floors, and ceilings. In addition, the technician is responsible for the installation of cabinetry, counters, shelving, and bookcases, as well as performing roof repairs or replacements as required. The technician also plays a pivotal role in the repair and replacement of door exit hardware, as well as the installation of automatic door closers to ensure compliance with safety regulations and functionality. The Facilities Technician is accountable for monitoring and managing the inventory of maintenance supplies, ensuring that frequently used materials and equipment are consistently stocked to prevent delays and disruptions to facility operations. Plays an integral role in ensuring the facility is adequately prepared for inclement weather conditions or seismic events. This involves conducting comprehensive vulnerability assessments, identifying potential weaknesses, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate any risks that could exacerbate the impact of such events on facility operations. The technician is required to undertake additional duties that align with mission-critical objectives and operational requirements. These responsibilities contribute to the achievement of organizational goals and the continuous improvement of facility operations. The technician is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of facility maintenance are executed to the highest standards, ensuring safety, efficiency, and long-term operational functionality. In this capacity, the Facilities Technician ensures that the infrastructure of the facility remains in optimal condition, supporting both the daily operational needs and long-term sustainability of the organization. SKILLS Basic building construction and maintenance from all aspects including framing, plumbing, rough and finish carpentry, roofing, painting, and minor electrical. Knowledge of materials, tools and equipment used in construction, repair and maintenance activities and the potential hazards associated with these operations. Ability to read and understand building blueprints and drawings. Works independently with limited supervision and leads the team. Plans and implements appropriate maintenance repairs and upgrades. Develop and maintain positive relationships and demonstrate a courteous and cooperative attitude in all dealings with all personnel involved in or directly relevant to the assigned area of work including vendors, contractors, managers, officers, and staff. Solves problems and makes decisions while being adaptable and flexible in order to meet the needs of differing circumstances. Safely operates a scissor lift, power tools, chain saws, hand tools, automotive vehicles, and other various rental tools and equipment related to construction and maintenance. Operates CSL vehicles and drive to various locations or work sites in all types of weather conditions. Communicates and expresses ideas clearly, effectively both verbally and by telephone, email and other electronic means. Analyzes situations quickly and objectively, determines a proper course of action, negotiates and problem solves. Understands and follows CMMS written and verbal instructions and directions. Supports and advances the goals of the CSL and VERSAR and contributes to a positive, productive environment. Maintains courteous and respectful communication with colleagues and supervisors. What You’ll Bring: High School diploma or vocational training Five (5) years in a progressively responsible position performing building maintenance or construction. Successful completion of a certified course of study of at least two (2) years in a related field may be substituted for two (2) of the five (5) years of required experience. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Embassy Security Clearance Must have and maintain a valid Salvadoran driver’s license. Must be able to successfully complete and pass a drug/alcohol test. May be required to take a medical evaluation by a company approved physician. Must have a safe driving record, as defined by corporate policy, to operate corporate and US Government vehicles. Must have practical knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices. Must be able to perform duties under adverse weather conditions (extreme heat, high winds etc.). Minimal working knowledge of office automation software (MS Office, Word, and Excel). Must be able and willing to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements, to include off-hours, weekends and holidays. Duties will require frequent periods of sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, crouching, crawling, reaching, and balancing. Physically fit to bend, stoop, and lift in awkward positions and able to lift up to 50 lbs. Requires up to 10% travel Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen. Comply with company drug and alcohol policy. Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date. Performance Standards: Demonstrates leadership by modeling desired behaviors appropriate to the work environment. Displays courtesy and skill in dealing with program personnel and customers. Must be able to work alternate shift schedules when necessary to meet mission requirements of the customer, to include weekends and holidays. Prioritizes and schedules assignments to meet priorities. Continually monitors program performance and takes appropriate action promptly. Follow up on suspense items to ensure timely completion.
