Senior Project Director Construction

Reporting to the Executive Project Director, this role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient management of the CM and other construction functions managed by the owner at site and in San Juan. The Snr. Project Director Construction will be responsible for the Owner's Construction Team and key liaison with the CM's respective site manager and other construction leadership as nominated in the delivery model of our multi-billion-dollar mining project. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the project's successful execution and a key leader in country, directing the San Juan and site teams .

This role will grow as the Vicuna district development progresses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a "point of contact" between the Implementation Contractor and any existing operating Facilities to ensure minimal disruption to both Operations and Construction activities.
• Liaise with the Engineering Director on the progress and status of Engineering for each Plant Facility inclusive of priority of design deliverables and sequence of events.
• Carry out periodical constructability reviews with Discipline Engineers.
• Liaise with the Procurement and Contracts Managers on the progress and status of Contract commitments, awarding and Procurement for each plant facility.
• Review the Construction Contracting Strategy proposed and implemented for the project.
• Ensure that Owner procured items are being expedited in a timely manner to meet the Project Schedule requirements.
• Monitor construction progress, and particularly the critical path, in conjunction with the Project Controls Director, so schedule slippage can be monitored, and the effects minimised.
• Review the overall construction direct labour by discipline and staffing resources to ensure that adequate facilities are provided to fully service the site requirements including managing the Site Services and Off-site services owners' teams
• Review the sequencing of activities, co-ordination procedures and systems, and the construction strategy proposed and implemented for the project.
• Review and overview the procedure for tag outs, outages and tie-ins to maximise existing productivity, minimise safety risks and integrate with the Project Schedule.
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance to ensure the project remains within budgetary constraints
• Identify and proactively mitigate project risks, implementing strategies to minimize disruptions and delays as well as cost exposure
• Maintain positive relationships with consultants, suppliers, government agencies, and other stakeholders, emphasizing social responsibility and sustainability
• Collaborate with and manage external consultants, including engineering or EPCM firms, environmental, water and tailings specialists, to ensure their contributions align with project objectives, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Provide regular progress reports, Input to Functional Review Committees financial partners and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Support sustainability programs that go beyond compliance, aiming to enhance the project's social and environmental footprint
• Regularly travel to the project site to show team leadership, ensure that project objectives are met, and challenges are addressed promptly

Education, Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in mining, engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Extensive international experience (20+ years) in mining projects
• Strong understanding of mining regulations, environmental compliance, and safety standards.
• Exceptional leadership and team-building skills and able to motivate, lead and drive high performance and execution.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills include verbal and written presentations
• Can effectively influence and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve required outcomes.
• Ability to work in a diverse and multicultural environment.
• Fluency in Spanish is desired
• Must pass high altitude medical and be able to travel to site
