Automation Engineer – Level 2 (L2)

Experience: 4–6 years of relevant experience

Role Summary:

The L2 Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining IT automation

workflows to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual tasks, and support system reliability. This

role works with scripts, CI/CD pipelines, IaC tools, and collaborates with IT teams to optimize processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop automated workflows for server provisioning, software deployment,

configuration management, and monitoring.

• Write scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other relevant languages.

• Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or

CloudFormation.

• Utilize configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet) to maintain system

configurations.

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.

• Develop automated monitoring and alerting systems using Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or

equivalent.

• Troubleshoot automation failures and optimize scripts and workflows.

• Document automation processes, scripts, and configurations.

• Collaborate with IT teams, developers, and stakeholders to improve operational efficiency.

Skills & Competencies:

• Proficiency in scripting languages: Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.

• Experience with IaC tools: Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation.

• Knowledge of configuration management tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools.

• Strong Linux and/or Windows operating system knowledge.

• Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.).

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).

• Version control proficiency (Git).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• English B2+.

Automation Engineer – Level 3 (L3)

Experience: 7–10 years of relevant experience

Role Summary:

The L3 Automation Engineer is a senior expert responsible for leading automation initiatives, designing

scalable and reliable automated systems, and mentoring junior engineers. This role drives process

improvement, implements complex automation solutions, and ensures operational excellence across IT

environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead design and implementation of complex automation workflows for IT operations.

• Develop and optimize scripts and automation frameworks for large-scale environments.

• Implement and manage advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible,

CloudFormation, or equivalent.

• Utilize configuration management tools to enforce compliance and maintain system consistency.

• Design and manage CI/CD pipelines for efficient software delivery and deployment automation.

• Lead monitoring and alerting automation, ensuring proactive incident detection and resolution.

• Troubleshoot complex automation failures and optimize IT workflows for performance and

scalability.

• Mentor and guide L2 engineers in automation best practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

• Stay up-to-date with emerging automation technologies and recommend improvements.

Skills & Competencies:

• Expert-level scripting and programming skills: Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.

• Advanced knowledge of IaC and configuration management tools.

• Strong experience with CI/CD design and implementation.

• Deep understanding of Linux/Windows operating systems and cloud platforms.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and mentoring skills.

• Ability to design scalable, reliable, and repeatable automation processes.

• English B2+.
