The Junior Video Editor supports the Content Production team within BoldSky Creative Studio by assisting in the creation, editing, and finishing of video projects across a wide range of platforms. This role is ideal for an emerging editor with strong foundational skills who is eager to grow their craft, expand storytelling abilities, and learn from a seasoned post-production team.

The Junior Video Editor collaborates with producers, senior editors, and creative directors to assemble edits, prepare assets, organize media, and support post-production workflows. A curiosity for innovation—including the evolving role of AI tools in video and audio workflows—is essential. This role provides hands-on experience while building toward more advanced editorial responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities
Editing & Post-Production Support

• Assist in assembling rough cuts, selects, string-outs, and early-stage edits under the direction of senior editors.
• Edit short-form content for digital and social platforms with oversight and guidance.
• Prepare footage, sync audio, pull selects, organize timelines, and manage media.
• Support final delivery by assisting with basic color correction, simple graphics, versioning, and exporting assets.
• Maintain working familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder.
• Assist with music selection, sound cleanup, and basic audio editing as needed.

AI-Enhanced Workflow Exposure

• Utilize beginner to intermediate-level AI tools for:

• Rough cut generation

• Transcription, captioning, and dialogue cleanup

• Smart reframing, resizing, and simple enhancement tasks

• Maintain overall familiarity with video- and audio-based AI platforms and a willingness to learn emerging tools such as Runway, Firefly, DaVinci Resolve AI, Descript, ElevenLabs, , Google Studio, and others.

• Support the team in testing and documenting AI tools that improve workflow efficiency.
• Demonstrate curiosity and adaptability as AI-integrated processes evolve.

Creative Collaboration & Learning

• Work closely with senior editors, producers, and creative directors to understand project goals and contribute ideas.
• Review scripts, briefs, and shot lists to support preparation and editorial planning.
• Apply feedback constructively and iterate edits to align with creative direction.
• Develop strong storytelling instincts with attention to pacing, clarity, and continuity.

Technical + Workflow Responsibilities

• Assist with media ingest, transcoding, organization, and file management following established studio workflows.
• Maintain tidy project files, bins, timelines, and server locations to ensure consistency across the team.
• Export, version, and deliver assets for internal review and external distribution.
• Follow digital and social platform standards for resolution, aspect ratio, and file formats.
• Learn foundational color and audio workflows through hands-on collaboration with senior team members.

Operational Excellence

• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously, shifting smoothly between tasks.
• Work efficiently within deadlines while maintaining a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.
• Demonstrate professional communication skills and strong team collaboration.
• Maintain flexibility and eagerness to assist where needed within the post-production process.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

• Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder.
• Introductory experience with DaVinci Resolve for color and finishing is preferred.
• Basic understanding of camera file formats, codecs, and editing workflows.

• Familiarity with:

• Simple color correction (Lumetri)

• Basic audio cleanup (noise reduction, leveling, EQ)
• Simple motion graphics or template-based VFX

• File exports, compression, and delivery formats

• On-set or student production experience is a plus but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Film/Media Production, Visual Communications, or related field (preferred but not required).
• 3-4 years of professional or internship video editing experience, ideally within an agency, production company, or media environment.
• Ability to juggle multiple tasks and shift fluidly between projects (required).
• Strong communication skills and openness to feedback (required).
• Demonstrated passion for video editing, storytelling, and emerging creative technologies (required).
