**Main purpose of the role & responsibilities in the business**:
**SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT**

As a Senior Financial Accountant (Consultant) at Kainos, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including assisting the Finance Managers and Group Head of Finance in the management of all aspects of the Finance function including monthly and annual reporting cycles.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

- ** Management Accounts Preparation**:

- Assists in the production of monthly management accounts.
- Areas of responsibility will include nominal ledger reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
- Analysing accounts and carrying out a review of the Trial Balances.
- Focus on accuracy and completion within month end deadlines.
- ** Statutory Accounts Preparation**:

- Prepare half year and annual statutory accounts for Group and subsidiaries.
- Leading the day-to-day relationship with the audit team.
- Ensuring preparation of accounts within set deadlines.
- ** Business Partnering**:

- Working closely with senior management across other departments / business units.
- Providing P&L reports v Budget and analysis on expenditure and trends for assigned cost centres.
- Managing all aspects relating to quarterly forecast updates for assigned cost centres.
- Key emphasis on efficiencies and process improvements
- Assisting on ad hoc projects.
- ** Payroll and Employee Benefits**:

- Processes monthly payroll journals liaising with People Support, the Salaries team and payroll agencies as appropriate
- Ensures salary costs are recharged to the correct project, where applicable.
- Prepare variance analysis and commentary for stakeholders such as Business Unit leaders.
- Supervises expense processing.
- ** External stakeholder management**
- Manage and development of relationships with key external parties such as Invest NI, Crown Commercial and Banks.
- ** Grants**:

- Prepares grant submissions and claims on a timely and accurate basis.
- ** Treasury Management**:

- Manages cash balances, deposits, foreign currencies, intercompany loans.
- Cash flow forecasting.
- ** Tax**:

- Preparing files and liaising with tax advisers on tax submissions.
- Assisting the Group Tax manager on taxation projects as required.
- ** Other**:

- Supervises the Financial Assistants (Accounts Payable, Credit Control, Cash).
- Mentor and coach junior members of the team with focus on their career development and performance
- Liaises with other Departments in Kainos (e.g. Business Units, People Support, Commercial).
- Complies with all confidentiality and non-disclosure policies and/or agreements and ensures security of information at all times.
- Assists the Group Head of Finance as required.

**SENIOR TAX CONSULTANT**

As Senior Tax Consultant at Kainos, reporting to the Group Commercial Controller, you will be responsible for managing the taxation affairs for the Group and will work under your own initiative to manage compliance and deliver tax information to facilitate decision-making and control.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

- Manage the Group’s corporation tax compliance and accounting, including:

- Drafting half-year tax computations
- Effectively manage the year end tax provisions process with our external advisers
- Assist with the tax notes for the group and subsidiary accounts
- Calculating quarterly payments on account
- Co-ordinate overseas tax compliance for each of our subsidiaries
- Assist the Group Commercial Controller with designing and implementing a Tax Controls Framework
- Submitting MTD UK VAT returns and liaising with global providers to stay on top of overseas VAT and Sales Tax compliance
- Carry out monthly tax and VAT account reconciliations
- Oversee the global transfer pricing framework, including completion of associated intercompany accounting and calculations
- Assisting the Group Commercial Controller with the tax aspects of key strategic projects
- Prepare the annual RDEC calculations for the UK RDEC claims
- Assist with tax aspects of global mobility and secondment arrangements
- Provide tax and technical training to finance staff where necessary
- Manage third party relationships with auditors, external tax advisors and HMRC/ other tax authorities in relation to any tax matters
- Assist the payroll team with difficult employment tax matters where they arise, including dealing with payroll related HMRC enquiries
- Monitor the IR35 contractor process in the business, analyse and report findings to the Group Commercial Controller
- Research the tax impact of certain business proposals or decisions and be able to present clear findings and recommendations to the Group Commercial Controller, Group Head of Finance and other stakeholders
