**The Role**: The Principal Platform Engineer is a leadership role on the platform engineering "DG" team tasked with ensuring architecture and engineering tasks are managed in collaborative way. This position also acts in an engineering role to design, POC and deliver solutions based on business requirements and technical best practices. **Responsibilities**: - Contribute to the engineering efforts of the team by actively participating in technical projects to support the evolving needs of the business - Work with teams across the enterprise to build modern, scalable solutions leveraging both on premise and cloud technologies where appropriate - Use your analytical and programming skills to build automation for engineered solutions - Advocate for standards in all things - Research and run proof of concept implementations for new solutions - Facilitate a collaborative team environment that encourages growth through participation **Requirements**: - Experience designing production systems in a hybrid cloud environment. - Experience with Kubernetes and related technologies (Docker, Flux, Sysdig, Rancher, etc.). - Experience with virtualization technologies to include design and capacity planning. - Expert level experience managing multiple flavors of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, SuSE, etc.). - Experience designing and maintaining gitops to support automation (Gitlab, etc.). - Experience working across teams to gather requirements and create solutions. - Experience communicating complex technical ideas to diverse audiences. - Experience with BCP planning to include design and execution. - Understanding of agile and traditional software development processes. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. - 3+ years of experience as an enterprise-level Engineer building and supporting modern infrastructure (Cloud, K8s, gitops, etc.) in a large-scale environment. - 5+ years of experience with Linux and Open Systems to include tuning and systems performance. - 5+ years of experience with automation and systems programming. - 3+ years of experience with Software Defined Infrastructure (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, etc.). - 2+ years working with GIT or other modern version control system. - 3+ years of experience with higher level programing languages (Perl, Python, Go, etc.).
