- Proofpoint is looking for an excellent Senior Software Engineer to join the Messaging and Streaming Platform team.
- We are a tight knit team, focused on growing the product and our own skillsets in this ever-changing landscape of high volume real time data processing which impacts all our products. - We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who possesses a passion for using cutting edge techniques, to continuously improve the product and team, and developing/designing solutions to solve some of the difficult problems working with large and diverse datasets.
- Your day-to-day
- As the senior member of the Messaging and Streaming Platform team, you will be working closely with cross functional teams
- Lead design and architecture for new features and improvements to the existing solution in production.
- Lead architecture reviews, identify risks and advocate for simplicity of design.
- Mentor junior engineers in the team, recommend suitable technologies, be a role model for engineering best practices
- Take end-to-end ownership of new code from prototype to production.
- You can independently analyze requirements, design and build scalable products with 24x7 availability
- Ensure that customer and production issues are resolved quickly.
- Maintain a high standard for engineering practices within the team.
- What you bring to the team
- Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science
- 7+ years of experience in large scale software development
- Knowledge of large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.
- Recent, extensive experience (4+ years) with one or more data pipeline and processing technologies (Kafka, Spark, Storm, Flink, etc.)
- You should be able to identify what these technologies are good for, and what they are not.
- Good understanding of database concepts both in the SQL and NoSQL world
- Be able to design and code - clean, elegant web services in Java
- Thorough knowledge of multi-threading, concurrency.
- Strong problem solving skills with entrepreneurial attitude.
- Have built systems at scale in the past and is very comfortable dealing with millions and billions of requests.
- In-depth understanding of running production service with 24/7 support, monitoring.
- Able to act as an independent technical lead on complex projects collaborating well with the team
- Excellent communication skills
