Senior Manager, Sourcing and Category Management

Then it’s time to join Western Union as a Senior Manager, Sourcing and Category Management **Western Union powers your pursuit.** The Sr. Manager of Sourcing and Category Management is a strategic role that continually assesses business needs, financials and the supplier and service provider market to determine the best options and sources of supply for the organization. This individual must also be an effective change agent, working with senior leadership within the business to drive enduring changes to how the organization manages third-party spending and supplier relationships. In this role, the individual will regularly interact with key business leaders to balance cost, risk and speed to ensure that the business is able to achieve its objectives. **Role Responsibilities** - Regional Sourcing and Procurement team leadership: - In conjunction with business unit leaders, develop and communicate a clear mission, vision and guiding principles for the regional sourcing and buying team to align with and support the business strategy. - Model and develop maturity of key sourcing competencies, such as business relationship management, strategic sourcing, negotiations, category planning, analytics, project management, and executive communication. - Manage projects against an approved timeline, plan, and objectives to ensure that commitments are met. - Make recommendations and provide pertinent input to sourcing options as they relate to stakeholder financial goals and plans. - Develop sourcing and procurement talent through succession planning, training and mentoring of direct reports - Sourcing strategy: - Develop, through a collaborative and inclusive approach, a regional sourcing strategy that delivers against corporate strategy priorities and translates business imperatives into effective procurement plans. - Identify and evaluate the best options for supply, which may include acquisition of products, outsourcing or insourcing, or other alternatives such as joint ventures, brokering vendor partnerships or potential acquisitions. - Engage the business to understand business drivers, risk appetite and environmental factors that influence the development and maintenance of the sourcing strategy. - Align sourcing objectives and associated metrics with those of the business. Then align associated metrics across procurement and vendor management functions. - Promote and communicate the sourcing strategy to the organization's senior leadership, ensuring that it is well-socialized and well-supported by key stakeholders. - Market intelligence: - Maintain a thorough understanding of market trends, evolving sources and alternate sources of supply. - Identify the drivers, shifts, market dynamics and trends to advise the business of the most effective sourcing strategy across relevant categories. - Review, manage and approve a comprehensive list of best-in-class suppliers for bid processes developed by analyzing industry trends and competitive positioning to ensure engagement and leverage of the most effective supply base. - Effective communication skills: - Manage and present information in both written or oral form for respectful dialogue with all levels of the organization and suppliers, including individual requestors through senior executives. - Develop the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes with suppliers and Western Union business leaders. - Ensure that effective processes and communication channels are in place to maximize the delivery and implementation of any sourcing activities. - Develop mechanisms to ensure that sourcing is embedded with the business, including sourcing team participation in business unit "strategy days," off-sites, leadership team meetings, and indirect reporting lines. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams at all levels, including senior executives, business unit heads and strategy teams. - Lead the sourcing and procurement team for the LACA region. - Collaborate and liaise with parallel sourcing, procurement and vendor management leaders within the organization. - Interact with strategic vendors' senior account executives. **Role Requirements** - 7+ years in sourcing and/or procurement and/or vendor management is expected, showing a progressive increase in skills and responsibilities, including leading direct reports - A bachelor's degree in business or other management discipline and/or certification by purchasing and supply chain professional bodies, such as the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) or the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is preferred. - Experience leading key negotiations. - Experience leading large-scale or enterprise sourcing activities. - A demonstrated ability to
