**Business Technology Associate**

ZS Discovery partners with leading life sciences organizations to accelerate R&D innovation and transform early-stage research into impactful treatments.

We are seeking an Associate Data Engineer for a techno-functional role supporting Discovery and Early R&D clients. This position is ideal for someone early in their career who is motivated to work at the intersection of science, technology, and business consulting.

You will collaborate closely with bioinformaticians and scientists to design and implement scalable data solutions that enable cutting-edge drug discovery research. While a background in biology is not required, a strong interest in biomedical research, biology, or pharmaceutical R&D is essential to thrive in this collaborative and mission-driven environment.

**What you’ll do**:

- Collaborate with bioinformaticians and scientists to understand data needs and translate them into scalable engineering solutions.
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows to support biological data processing and analysis.
- Develop and optimize data storage solutions, ensuring accessibility, reliability, and performance across diverse datasets.
- Contribute to the development of cloud-based and distributed data and software solutions that support scalable and efficient research operations.
- Participate in cross-functional discussions, bringing a technical perspective to help solve scientific challenges in drug discovery and early-stage R&D.

**What you’ll bring**:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Informatics Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience designing and building data pipelines using ETL frameworks or custom workflow solutions
- Proficiency in Python and databases, with familiarity in additional languages considered a plus
- Exposure to big data concepts and distributed processing frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization tools
- Basic software engineering practices such as version control and CI/CD
- Understanding of data modeling, architecture, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) principles, especially in the context of scientific or biomedical data
- Fluency in English

Hybrid working model:
