Regional Tax Manager – Latin America We help the world run better. The Global Tax department of SAP is responsible for all tax related matters on corporate taxes within the group. It is responsible for tax compliance as well as for all strategic aspects of tax optimization. The main areas of expertise cover a broad range of national and international tax topics as well as the execution and supervision of tax related projects. Global Tax is constantly providing support and policies to the local subsidiaries. Within the regional structure of Global Tax the Regional Tax Manager (RTM) for Latin America is responsible for all relevant corporate tax matters of the legal SAP subsidiaries. The RTM leads a team of dedicated Local Tax Managers who are responsible for corporate tax issues of different countries in the region and also closely collaborate with external advisors. The team also includes two colleagues supporting the Local Tax Managers holistically, thus ensuring increasing standardisation and simplification across the region. The Regional Tax Manager is part of the R2R set‑up of Global Tax and as such also closely collaborates with the Regional Tax Managers for the regions APJ/GC, EMEA and MEE (without Germany). In addition, a strong alignment with other corporate functions is of utmost importance. The main responsibilities cover the following areas of corporate taxation: direct taxes, indirect taxes, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, tax aspects of restructuring, tax accounting, tax audit and tax litigation. The Regional Tax Manager is member of the Leadership Team of Global Tax and as such also involved in strategic decisions of the global team. Responsibilities - Successfully lead and coach a team of Local Tax Managers spread over different countries in an agile manner. Provide direction and act as a leader. - Drive SAP’s transformation and strategy within the region and contribute with the regional team to worldwide successful implementation. - Ensure that the SAP subsidiaries meet full internal and external tax compliance requirements for all kinds of direct and indirect corporate taxes and transfer pricing. - Ensure fluent collaboration between external advisors and Local Tax Managers. - Ensure, in cooperation with external advisors, appropriate tax accounting according to IFRS for SAP subsidiaries within the region. - Manage tax risks (including accounting for uncertain tax positions) for the SAP subsidiaries in the region. - Take care of tax incentive planning and effective tax rate management for SAP subsidiaries in the region. - Deal with a broad range of tax queries in international business with an understanding of the tax legislation in the countries of the region and communicate with government authorities. - Provide tax support for legal entities on strategic tax issues, tax audits and tax litigation. - Provide interpretation and guidance on tax laws and regulations in different jurisdictions within the region. - Support business on any kind of cross‑border business. - Assist with communication and negotiations with government authorities relating to tax matters. - Ensure a high level of “customer” satisfaction and build good business relations with key stakeholders. - Drive collaboration with commercial teams and successfully ensure tax‑optimised deal support. - Support mergers or liquidation of legal entities following acquisition with the M&A Tax Team and/or external advisors. - Pro‑actively manage tax projects, including holistic management and coordination with other functions/lines of business. Qualifications and Skills - Qualified Tax Advisor or comparable qualification. - Ability to lead a virtual team of tax experts spread over different countries. - Specialisation in international tax issues (mainly corporate direct taxes, indirect taxes and withholding taxes with a deep understanding of transfer pricing, mergers & acquisition, organisational restructuring, planning for investment locations, financing issues). - Deep understanding of tax accounting according to IFRS and management of effective tax rates. - Strong pro‑active project management skills as well as innovative “solution seeker” rather than a “problem definer” attitude. - Ability to work independently and under time pressure. - Team player with good leadership, interpersonal and communication skills. - Fluently in English. Work Experience 10–12 years working experience in tax consulting and/or tax function of a multinational company with broad exposure to corporate tax matters.
