Job Description:
As an AML Investigator at Bitfinex, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into unusual activity made to the Compliance Team. This includes efficiently and effectively adjudicating referrals, preparing SAR submissions within regulatory timelines, and closing referrals as not suspicious supported by articulated reasoned argument.

You will work closely with the Manager Compliance, Chief Compliance Officer, and other teams to address fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions risks. You will also maintain strong relationships and networks amongst peers in the industry to share best practices and investigative techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conducting investigations assigned by the Manager Compliance to determine risk exposure to Bitfinex.
  2. Providing support to Customer Help Desk / Legal Team requests for investigative assistance.
  3. Communicating with customers, agents, and internal attorneys as applicable.

In performing this role, you will continuously strive to self-develop and enhance your skill sets, including understanding blockchain technology, virtual currencies, suspicious activities, criminals' modus operandi, and best investigative practices.


Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • University education (Preferred)
  • Experience in an investigative function
  • Demonstrated AML experience incl. customer and enhanced due diligence, AML/CTF/Sanctions Investigations, SAR/STR reporting
  • Basic knowledge of blockchain technology
  • CAMS/CBP designation (Preferred)
