This is an exciting opportunity to join the First Quantum Minerals team as an Environmental Specialist. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to support our environmental and permitting activities for the Taca Taca project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the permitting and land acquisition activities associated with the Taca Taca Project and further mine development.
- Develop permitting analysis, matrices, and permit applications, including the preparation and review of technical documents in line with applicable regulations, business standards, and Company policies.
- Support and collaborate with the technical areas of the project from an environmental and permitting perspective during field campaigns.
- Interact with relevant government authorities and other stakeholders involved in the approvals and authorizations of permits and lands.
- Coordinate and participate in technical meetings associated with permitting and land activities.
- Provide support to technical audits (internal, government, others).
- Report progress on the status of permits and/or land acquisition.
- Prepare internal and external reports associated with permitting and land activities.
- Prepare permitting schedules and timelines.
Requirements:
- Environmental engineering, mining engineering, geology, or related fields.
- Preferred Master's or postgraduate degree in Environmental Management.
- Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, with particular experience in mining.
- Fluency in Spanish and English - written and spoken.
- Experience in EIA preparation, audits, and Environmental Management and Compliance Systems.
- Experience working in the field and remote sites.
- Experience working with highly technical documents (drawings, reports, etc.) associated with mining in its exploration, feasibility, construction, commissioning, and operation phases.
- Knowledge and familiarity with local legislation and international business standards applicable to mining from an environmental perspective.
- MS Office.
- Project planning software and data analytics.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Driver's license.
- Ability to work collaboratively with various work teams.
