Position Overview:

This role is integral to the Taca Taca project team, focusing on environmental management and permitting processes, land rights, and associated functions. The Specialist will ensure alignment with First Quantum's commitments to Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) and adhere to all applicable legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Permitting and Land Management:

• Assist in the permitting and land acquisition processes for the Taca Taca Project and future developments.
• Develop permitting assessments, matrices, and applications, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company standards.
• Collaborate with technical teams to provide environmental and permitting insights during field operations.
• Engage with government authorities and stakeholders regarding permit approvals and land rights.
• Facilitate technical meetings related to permitting and land issues.
• Support internal and external audits related to permitting and land activities.
• Monitor and report on the status of permits and land acquisitions.
• Prepare detailed reports on permitting and land activities.
• Establish timelines and schedules for permitting processes.

Environmental Management:

• Implement environmental management strategies for mining operations.
• Oversee weather station operations, including data management and technical maintenance.
• Update and manage the environmental aspects database.
• Assist in the preparation of environmental documentation and reports.
• Contribute to the development and revision of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) for the project.
• Organize workshops for regulatory authorities regarding EIAs.
• Continuously assess EIA requirements throughout the project's lifecycle.
• Coordinate on-site activities to ensure compliance with EIA commitments and regulations.
• Manage environmental databases essential for project compliance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
• Master's or postgraduate qualification in Environmental Management is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, particularly in the mining sector.
• Proficiency in both Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in EIA preparation, audits, and Environmental Management Systems.
• Field experience in remote locations is advantageous.
• Familiarity with technical documentation related to mining operations.
• Knowledge of local regulations and international standards pertaining to environmental management in mining.
• Proficient in MS Office and project planning software.
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a plus.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
