Mission Control Engineer

Mission Control is an innovative internal system developed by Shift4 to integrate company-wide information from external systems into a unified platform. This system aims to replicate the control rooms of the Space Shuttle and Apollo programs, providing holistic data analysis and actionable insights for fast response and automation creation.

As a Mission Control Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and executing major operational strategies and development roadmaps for the Mission Control platform. You will work closely with the Director of Operations to ensure that the system's design and functionalities align with clear pathways for operators to integrate their daily work into Shift4's current business processes.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement the technical vision for Mission Control, including partnerships with executive teams and communication of the platform's objectives.
• Conceptualize and lead the implementation of new features and functionalities for Mission Control operators, ensuring seamless technical development from design to operation.
• Collaborate with the Director of Operations to synchronize technical solutions with people-oriented processes and operational workflows.
• Establish standard operating procedures for new data integrations and define technical solutions for new systems as they come online.
• Foster and manage a talented team of technical engineers, creating efficient workflows and delivering high-quality results to stakeholders.
• Perform technical tasks as needed to support team goals, such as development, technical writing, workflow design, and data visualization.
• Operate 'on-console' as the chief engineer from the Center Valley Mission Control Center or remotely as required.
• Design and implement communication methods, escalation strategies, quality assurance protocols, and response plans for ongoing business and technical issues identified by Mission Control.
• Identify opportunities for automating business processes aligned with Shift4's future state programs like Project Phoenix.
