Accountant I

About the Role

FM Global is seeking a highly skilled Accountant I to join our team in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico. As an Accountant I, you will be responsible for performing moderately complex routine and non-routine accounting work, including compilation, consolidation, and analysis of financial statements to support management.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare reports and conduct moderately complex analysis of financial data on a timely basis
• Prepare ledgers and make journal entries
• Be responsible for fixed asset or inventory accounting
• Prepare trial balance or financial statements
• Review the reports and analyses prepared by more junior accountants for accuracy
• Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems
• Presents findings and supporting financial information to Accounting management
• Prepare appropriate commentary or explanations relating to issues/information of particular interest
• Use judgment to determine which issues/information warrant closer attention
• May conduct investigations of accounts if needed
• Communicate with operating or staff personnel to supply or explain data, secure information, or offer additional support
• May provide advice on accounting-related issues, using proven and documented principles to support recommendations
• Represent organization as a prime contact on projects
• Interact with senior internal and external staff on significant matters often requiring coordination
• Identify accounting systems that need strengthening and make appropriate recommendations for improvement to Accounting management
• Participate in special projects to provide moderately complex accounting information and support

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance (other business degree in combination with strong work experience may be considered)
• 2-3+ years experience in general accounting/financial reporting experience
• Corporate tax experience
• Advanced knowledge of general accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency with financial systems and standard software applications (PeopleSoft; Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word)
• Attention to detail and strong organization skills
• Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment
