We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist - Finance to join our team at Bitso. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions to drive strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Finance Stakeholders: Work closely with the finance team to understand their needs and develop solutions that address key financial challenges.
- Translate Financial Problems into Solutions: Develop data science solutions that drive revenue forecasting, risk management, and cost optimization.
- Lead Data Science Initiatives: Develop end-to-end solutions within the finance team through the whole data science lifecycle, from gathering requirements and aligning with stakeholders to model development.
- Advocate for Data-Driven Strategies: Communicate and advocate for data science initiatives that support and enhance the broader financial strategies at Bitso.
- Monitor and Refine Models: Continuously monitor the performance of deployed models, making necessary refinements to improve their effectiveness and alignment with financial goals.
- Quantitative Background: Have a degree in a quantitative field such as actuarial science, finance, mathematics, data science, or economics.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as a data scientist or an advanced degree (Masters or Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Finance, Risk management, Data Science, or Machine Learning and 2+ years of industry experience.
- Technical Skills: Experience with classic time series forecasting, including ARIMAs, GARCH, and more advanced techniques. Understanding of simulation techniques like Monte Carlo and Markov Chain. Experience in both supervised and unsupervised modeling. Strong proficiency in SQL. Strong proficiency in R or Python. Understanding of software engineering best practices, including version control, code reviews and automatic testing.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Advanced Quantitative Finance Techniques: Understanding of advanced quantitative finance techniques such as hidden Markov models, deep learning for time series, state-space models, extreme value theory and scenario analysis.
- FP&A Experience: Experience working with a FP&A area.
- Big Data Manipulation Tools: Understanding of big data manipulation tools such as Spark or Koalas.
- MLOps Best Practices: MLOps best practices experience.
- Databricks Experience: Databricks experience.
