About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Energy Lawyer to join our team at S&P Global Commodity Insights. This role will be based in Latin America, focusing on upstream regulation and its impact on the energy sector.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in law, preferably with further studies on energy policy, regulation, or taxation. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the upstream sector is required. Prior experience in researching laws and contracts from multiple jurisdictions is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze legal, commercial, and economic issues affecting the upstream oil and gas sector in Latin America
  • Monitor and assess key contractual, regulatory, and fiscal developments impacting the upstream sector
  • Engage with clients through presentations and discussions, providing insightful research on how the energy transition is affecting the upstream sector
  • Maintain risk scores and regulatory trackers, collaborating with other teams to build integrated research

What We're Looking For:

  • An analytical thinker who can leverage qualitative and quantitative information to drive results
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English, with effective time management and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with AI tools in a research environment and proficiency with MS applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
