Job Summary

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented candidates for the position of Field Data Technician.

The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting detailed technical information about electric utility and telecommunication facilities and equipment in an outdoor environment.

This position requires routine overnight travel, often 1-2 weeks at a time, with occasional out-of-state assignments that may involve longer stays.

Responsibilities
  • Collect field data that supports the engineering and design of fiber optic cable facilities, including measurements of attachment heights, span distances, angles, etc.
  • Submit organized, detailed data for each project, which may include maps, field notes, and digital images.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as tablet computers, digital cameras, measuring tools, and personal protective equipment.
  • Work professionally in the field as a representative of Osmose and our customers.
  • Communicate effectively and daily with the project management team.
  • Work safely and independently with minimal supervision.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; a technical background is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of telecommunications and/or electrical distribution systems is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of pole design, including NESC requirements and general safety practices, is advantageous.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and participate in physically demanding tasks that involve lifting 15 to 20 pounds regularly.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, including the ability to read, interpret, and follow GPS maps.
  • Ability to follow process specifications and guidelines in a high-quality, high-paced environment.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Presentation of a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Demonstration of high work standards and attention to detail with a quality orientation.
  • Adherence to core values of the company.
  • Passing a background check.
  • At least one year of outdoor work-related experience.
  • At least one year working in a role that required following a safety program or safety protocols.
  • At least six months of experience working in a quality-controlled environment.
  • At least six months of experience traveling to various work locations, including occasional overnight stays.
