Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Assembly Production Engineer to join our team at Daimler AG (Canada). As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for monitoring departmental performance, managing manpower, and developing and implementing complex manufacturing production processes and methods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Manage the implementation of continuous improvement processes to create a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Problem Solving: Investigate problems, analyze root causes, and derive resolutions using the 8D Problem Solving Process to ensure sustainable quality products.
  • Operational Strategy: Develop operational strategies to achieve production and financial objectives.
  • Quality Assurance: Assure product and process quality by designing complex testing methods, testing finished products and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Financial Management: Participate in budget preparation and monitor expenses and profitability.
  • Supplier Management: Write spec books, request and evaluate supplier quotations.
  • Process Design: Design, document, and implement medium to large-scale manufacturing processes, determining feasibility of product changes.
  • Process Optimization: Utilize system analysis of production methods/procedures and process automation for continued growth improvements.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance to team members to accomplish production goals, mentor and provide guidance to less senior manufacturing engineers for skill/knowledge base development.
  • Project Management: Propose and manage medium-scale projects from beginning to end, may scope and manage large capital investment projects.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant degree required.
  • Experience: Over 5 years of relevant experience required, strongly preferring assembly manufacturing in Trim or Chassis, including experience such as hands-on programming experience in booth or work cell, PLC experience, hands-on experience in off-line simulations, 3D-CAD experience, hands-on experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and computer-controlled systems, and hands-on experience with process devices.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Ability to present complex technical information related to achieving goals of the department, ability to influence team members at all levels of the organization, proven written and verbal communication at all levels within the organization with good negotiation skills, ability to anticipate needs and deliver timely, relevant solutions and actions, proven design & implementation of Continuous Improvement themes with savings, knowledge of value stream mapping to reduce waste and improve output in a production environment, experience in process layout and optimization incorporating asset utilization, background in manpower distribution based on production and efficiency targets, ability to troubleshoot, instruct repair techniques, & assist if needed for root cause analysis in stressful situations, ability to read & create blueprints and schematics, knowledge of trim and chassis assembly process.
