The main purpose of the External Affairs Sr. Manager is to be a key contributor to the local External Affairs strategy development & execution in order to create a business environment that allows our business model and smoke-free vision for the market to thrive. Through both team leadership & personal interventions, helps develop & execute market plans to address local regulatory & fiscal priorities. As well as acting as a PMI spokesperson, their work includes being a key supporter to the affiliate engagement with a wide variety of government & non-governmental stakeholders, ensuring PMI is recognized as a trusted partner by consumers, society & regulators.
**Your ‘day to day’**
- Establish and maintain strong relationship with members of the Congress, political parties, Government bodies and local political authorities to open /strengthen communication channels and transparent relationships between PMI and key decision makers.
- Overlook and support the creation of awareness of smoke-free products (SFPs) and their characteristics, as well as harm reduction in general, among key external stakeholders (authorities).
- Help raise the awareness in the public debate over illicit trade and its consequences with the support of other sectors that have similar issues.
- Develop and execute regulatory strategies to seek the recognition and implementation of specific regulation for SFPs.
- Monitor political and regulatory trends in the Legislative and administrative bodies, to identify opportunities and threats, and shape a more stable and predictable future for the business.
- Lead efforts intended to raise the profile of our company within Chambers, Associations and other relevant stakeholders, to help build the right environment and support for the introduction/expansion of SFPs.
- Coordinate action between local management team, EA cluster team and EA regional team, helping drive EA efforts to the consecution of the business strategies.
- Provide regular and ad hoc reports to Management on SFPs developments.
**Who we’re looking for**
- 10+ years of leading regulation/engagement strategies and direct interaction with government institutions, regulatory authorities, and PR/media outfits, developing and executing effective corporate affairs strategies in complex environments
- 10+ years' experience working in highly regulated sectors or industries such as pharma, chemical, energy, construction, oil & gas.
- 5+ years of Leadership/People management
- Government Relations/Intergovernmental affairs experience at local, province, and country level, from which a proven ability to leverage the value of bilateral, regional, and multilateral government affairs forums, coalitions, business associations, and platforms has been gained.
