Responsibilities
About the Role:
The Head of Innovation Lab & GenAI is recognized organization-wide as a leader and subject matter expert. We are seeking an energetic, dynamic, and innovative leader and influencer, acting as an avid promoter of process improvement to enhance productivity and performance of the organization. This is a high-level technical leader recognized as an expert both internally and externally. This person will represent GM Financial in the broader community as a brand ambassador and maintain a strong network in the community
In this role, you will:
Architectural Leadership:
- Lead the creation and maintenance of technical architecture, aligning it with business goals and scalability requirements, and architecting complex software systems to ensure performance, security, and scalability needs are met.
- Be responsible for big picture thinking, strategic direction, presenting to executive stakeholders, and holding engineering teams accountable for overarching delivery goals.
Technical Guidance and Mentoring:
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and establishing and enforcing coding standards through thorough code reviews.
- Code Review and Standards: Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices through thorough code reviews.
Innovation and Research:
- Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, conducting research to identify emerging tools and methodologies.
- Build awareness, increase knowledge, and drive adoption of AI tools and technologies.
Collaboration Communication:
- Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, promoting a culture of open communication and collaboration.
- Operate as a trusted advisor for a specific technology, platform or capability domain, helping to shape use cases and implementation in a unified manner.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, UX/UI, Quality Assurance, and DevOps.
- Be an integral part of our transformation from day one and you will be counted on to create opportunities that align with the overall organizational goals.

Qualifications
What makes you a dream candidate?
- Extensive experience in the design, development, and delivery of software products in an enterprise environment.
- Strong track record in an architect role with large-scale software development data backed services and applications.
- A clear vision for full stack architecture design and great communication skills to articulate that to all levels of stakeholders.
- Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast-paced environment.
- Thorough understanding of distributed technologies, public cloud technologies, scalable platforms, full stack development, ML- platforms, Generative AI and Operational Excellence.
- Business acumen; combining technical vision with business insights.
- Ability to thoroughly understand leaders' perspectives, develop consensus and confidently communicate final recommendations and decisions with credibility.
- Proven relationship management skills and ability to influence others to achieve results by working across the organization, being open to ideas and actively engaging and influencing others.
- Advanced skills in providing leadership through mentorship, influence, inspiration, collaboration and teamwork.
- Exemplifies professional behavior in using logic, analysis and judgment when encountering challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to map long-term vision for the organization and generate innovative ideas that create value.

- Proven ability to make smart decisions that have organization-wide impact with a strong sense of urgency to accelerate continuous progression.
- Experience with one or multiple areas of AI technology stack (some examples include: prompt engineering, guardrails, vector databases/knowledge bases, and AI UX (Conversational).
- Experience with CICD technologies.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with a public cloud (AWS or Microsoft Azure).
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field required; Master's Degree preferred.
- 14+ years in technology related function(s) required.
- 7-10 years experience leading teams in large enterprises.
- 7-10 years driving thought leadership and innovation across products.
