About the Senior Latin America Campaigner
The Senior Latin America Campaigner will be responsible for developing, managing and leading 350.org campaigns and activities in Latin America, with a main focus in Argentina but also in other countries such as Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. Around 70% of its time will be for Argentina and the other 30% to the other countries. A successful campaigner will ensure 350 Latin America is running high profile campaigns in the region that are receiving attention from targets, the media and interest from our supporters and partners.
The main campaigns that the hired person will work are the one against the fracking expansion in the region of Vaca Muerta and also the one against offshore exploration in the Argentinian Sea. The campaigner will work as a member of the Latin American Team, and will have to attend private or public events on behalf of 350.org in Argentina and possibly in other countries of the region or the world.
Main activities
- Develop (plan, organize and implement) campaigns, events and actions of 350.org campaigns and projects in Argentina and other countries in Latin America;
- Lead the management of joint cross-regional moments, ensuring Communications, Campaigning and Organising, and Regional Teams, and external partners, are clear on their responsibilities, coordinate effectively together, and deliver on time and to budget.
- Engage with different groups to galvanize support to the campaigns;
- Develop strategies to bring new people into the network, growing existing groups and forming new ones, with a focus on increasing diversity, equity and inclusivity;
- Support the Regional Director with the project budgeting when necessary;
- Participate in the campaigning community of practice of 350.org;
- Write content to the blog;
- Plan content and deliver workshops targeting different audiences;
- Give interviews to different media when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- At least four (4) years of experience with campaigns and projects implementation, particularly in the non profit sector;
- Proficient with virtual meeting technology, google drive and other online technologies;
- Fluent in Spanish and English;
- Availability to travel domestically and internationally if necessary;
- Knowledge of disciplines connected to climate change;
- Existing network of movement relationships around climate and social justice;
- Experience and strong skills to work with a variety of stakeholders. Examples are environmental and social organizations, indigenous people, politicians, youth organizations and joint initiatives;
- Ability to communicate complex ideas in clear, concise terms (written and verbally);
- Excellent self-organizing skills; Problem solver with a positive attitude; able to work in a fast-paced environment, and also willing to dig in on all kinds of tasks;
- Culturally intelligent/sensitive, and an excellent coordinator of diverse teams, able to articulate issues in a manner that brings people together to make progress;
- A demonstrated understanding of and commitment to justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), anti-racism or anti-oppression work.
