Senior IoT Engineer

We are looking for Senior Software Engineers to help build the next generation of our smart building products.

Having successfully deployed the first generation of our products, we are putting together teams to build the next generation to address a range of IT, OT, and IoT use cases (including edge, real-time location, wayfinding, people counting, room booking, access control, and visitor management); and are exploring ways to leverage machine learning across our product.

We're building systems that integrate IoT, real-time data and web/mobile apps and we're doing it with decomposed architecture to facilitate independent scrum teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Deliver highquality python code to run in a containerize environment;
  • Integrate new devices (sensors, gateway, etc.), implement, and debug features;
  • Architect, design, test and integrate firmware features targeted for IoT devices built for high volume manufacturing;
  • Handson hardware bringup, system debugging and code optimization;
  • Develop, enhance, and debug new and existing realtime firmware components and features in C;
  • Make performance and optimization tradeoffs to meet product requirements;
  • Provide hardware/firmware support and design input as required to Cloud/UI Designers and others;
  • Build edge computing modules and integrate them effectively to achieve realtime requirements;
  • Support continuous integration and code quality improvement initiatives;
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements that can enhance the operation of the entire endtoend system;
  • Work as a part of a multidisciplinary team spanning hardware, software, cloud development and product management;
  • Improve customer experience, continually raising the bar on functionality, usability, and simplicity.

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or proof of exceptional skills in related fields with practical software engineering experience;
  • Proficiency with Python programming, C language;
  • Understanding of TCP/IP Socket Programming;
  • Good knowledge on TLS, SSL;
  • Good knowledge of RESTful standards and best practices;
  • Deep knowledge of Javascript/HTML/CSS and at least one major web framework (React, Vue, Angular);
  • Experience incremental delivery of enterprise systems with CI/CD;
  • Working knowledge of agile process in a software and firmware setup;
  • Experience working in an IoT and/or SaaS business with many hardware and software components distributed across a variety of environments and with varied deployment types;
  • Test driven development and familiarity with developer driven automated testing;
  • Remain engaged, proactive, and positive while solving very challenging problems;
  • Experience with Linux, embedded Linux.
