Lilac is seeking an Import - Export Coordinator who will be responsible for the import
- export operations of Lilac Solutions in South America (Argentina, Chile, and, Bolivia). This position will control and ensure the timely and correct flow of goods between Lilac's operations between these 3 countries and with other destinations, in order to add value to company operations (in terms of logistics cost, delivery lead time, etc.) and comply with local legislation. This work must be carried out respecting company policies and procedures, and maintaining the highest ethical standards at all times. Position will be based in Buenos Aires, and work in "home office " mode. Depending on work, it might require travel to other Lilac sites.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and control together with freight forwarders and customs brokers all importexport operations, in order to ensure timely completion.
  • Define information requirements for importexport operations. Coordinate delivery of information / documents from internal customers and vendors (PO, BL, invoice, etc), and review them together with customs broker for compliance with local legislation.
  • Manage daily work of customs brokers, in order to ensure timely passage of goods through customs. Monitor and control work carried out by customs broker. Ensure together with broker that customs duties are correctly calculated. Make cash calls for funds needed to pay customs duties, and monitor broker's use of these funds.
  • Monitor payment process of overseas suppliers.
  • Monitor relevant changes in legislation pertaining to importexport operations, and share it with Lilac's management.
  • Centralize requests for import permits mandated by local law (SIRA's, etc.). Coordinate with customs broker and Lilac's departments delivery of information required for approval. Follow approval process until ready. Monitor validity, and request renewal when necessary.
  • Plan and coordinate freight forwarding operations (ej. define transportation mode, pickup date, customs clearance, need for cranes and land transport, etc.). Control execution until final delivery. Keep management informed of status of each shipment.
  • Provide landed cost estimates for importexport operations to Lilac's departments (both for current and potential operations). Act as internal consultant to help internal customers evaluate feasibility and cost of potential importexport operations.
  • Work with customs broker to get temporary import permits.
  • When required, contract and coordinate supplier/material inspections before shipping.
  • Give input for contracting of freight forwarders and customs brokers, and manage their daytoday operations.
  • Create and maintain database of past import/export operations to use as reference for future operations.
  • Write and implement internal procedures related to import/export
  • Define and update importexport KPI's
  • 5 years of relevant work experience (preferably in the mining or oil & gas industries)
  • Knowledge of regulations related to import export of goods and services to and from Argentina (SIRA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the international freight forwarder market
  • Knowledge of customs brokers in Argentina
  • Academic Qualifications (possible options)
  • Import
  • Export University Degree (ej: Licenciado en Comercio Exterior or similar)
  • Engineering
  • Business Administration
  • Others (to be evauated)
  • Experience working with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Fluent in English
