WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER:


The R2A Finance and Public Policy Lead supports the development and implementation of the Ecosystem-based Adaptation for Regenerative Ranching and Agriculture (EbA R2A) Regional Program and country projects in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, providing regional leadership in financial mechanisms and in public policies to promote regenerative agriculture in the countries where the project is being implemented.

This position will coordinate the key activities and the interface with corporate and government stakeholders to consolidate 5 private financial instruments/financial risk-transfer solutions and 5 public mechanisms for funding EbA R2A transition with at least 2,000 producers accessing these funds.

WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU:


The R2A Finance and Public Policy Lead will be responsible for leading and directing regional activities for the design and implementation of financial mechanisms to facilitate and channel public and private funding to enable EbA R2A transition through financial instruments and financial risk-transfer solutions, and in guiding the process of research, analysis, design and advocacy of policies for public sector engagement and in support of the implementation of the initiatives deployed by the project.

He/She will coordinate and liaise with the EbA R2A| Project Manager, the Platform Manager, and the consortium partners, as well as external actors as applicable, to consolidate 5 private financial instruments/financial risk-transfer solutions and 5 public mechanisms for funding EbA R2A transition with at least 2,000 producers accessing these funds in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay and Peru.


RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • The R2A Finance and Public Policy Lead will be responsible for leading the identification of existing private financial products and mechanisms available to the agricultural sector in the five target countries, focusing on those created for climate risk management, sustainable practices, and the potential for EbA R2A, including analysis of challenges and barriers
  • He/She will be responsible for leading the identification of stakeholders' financial needs, specifically producers and others directly involved in the transition to EbA R2A practices
  • He/She will be responsible for leading the engagement of private investors (companies, lenders, and investors at national and international level) interested in investing in mechanism that support farmer's transition (i.e., resultsbased funding, venture capital, impact investors, blended finance, lenders looking to invest in new business models etc.)
  • He/She will lead the alignment and collaboration with other regional and national initiatives and platforms formed for channeling funds for EbA R2A transition in coordination with the Platform Manager and the EbA R2A| Project Manager
  • He/She will cocreate narratives for investors demonstrating the link between EbA R2A results, and investment efforts in coordination with and the Platform Manager
  • He/She will be responsible for leading the engagement and strengthen relationships with target public institutions, including central banks, stateowned banks, agriculture and environmental ministries, other financial initiatives to support the transition to EbA R2A practices in coordination with the consortium partners (ECLAC and UFZ)
  • He/She will be responsible for leading at regional level the policy research and write narratives and analytical documents as well as policy briefs and strategic communications in support of the EbA R2A Project in coordination with the consortium partners (ECLAC and UFZ) the EbA R2A Communications Director
  • He/She will articulate the work of the project with other policy and financial specialist in the region and will involve appropriate partners in the field as well as staff in TNC's Global, and Latin America Regional offices, keeping them aware of interactions, issues and concerns, and directs questions as appropriate.
  • Develops narratives, documents for semiannual report and coordinates with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) specialist in progress reports.
