As a Senior Backend Engineer you will work side by side with our CTO to build the foundations, present systems, and future of our backend and AI services. What You’ll Do Develop and enhance backend systems for existing and new applications in collaboration with mobile engineers. Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable backend services in languages such as Kotlin, Java, Go, Python, or similar. Architect backend tools, databases, and overall system architecture, choosing appropriate patterns and ensuring performance and reliability. Integrate with cloud services (AWS, Supabase, Cloudflare) and optimize data workflows. Build internal tools, libraries, or components to boost backend development productivity. Participate in architecture planning, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring using New Relic, Datadog, or equivalent. Qualifications 4+ years of experience designing and building high-performance backend systems used by millions. Expertise in backend development with proven experience in Kotlin, Java, Go, Python, or similar languages. Strong knowledge of database design, management, and optimization. Experience building and maintaining scalable and reliable systems. Experience or strong interest in AI, especially deploying models in production. Excellent communication in English (Spanish or French is a plus). Proactive, autonomous, and comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment.
