With an industry-leading pipeline of projects, strong financial positioning, and talented employees, we look forward to our bright future**Job Description:*** Lead greenfields exploration activities in Argentina with the aim to safely make a new >2 Moz gold equivalent greenfields discovery* Ensure the Greenfields Exploration team meets or exceeds corporate Health, Safety, Environment, and Community targets* Identifies quality exploration projects and targets that are aligned with SSR’s core strategies having positive material impacts on the company.* Lead a high performing exploration team* Guides and supports the exploration team, helping to generate and test targets while obeying and/or exceeding current best practices in health, safety and environmental management.* Defines exploration programs and develops new gold and silver resources across exploration tenements* Ensures that all exploration work is undertaken and completed in compliance with international reporting codes such as JORC, SK-1300 and NI 43-101.* Drives constant improvement in the quality of SSR’s geological evaluations and the competency of exploration geologists.**Position Overview:***Exploration Management** Plan, implement and manage all jurisdictional exploration activities including geological, geophysical and geochemical data acquisition, drilling, data processing, implementation of quality assurance/quality control programs, data storage, and resource management.* Undertake geological, geochemical, structural and geophysical interpretation of exploration data. Combine multi-disciplinary data sets to provide an integrated summary of projects and enable evaluation of exploration potential.* Ability to monitor performance against Key Performance Indicators, objectives and budget.* Helps the local teams develop exploration models and assists in the planning of exploration programs.* Works with team members on land tenure and permit management.* Providing coaching and training to other employees within the job area to enhance performance of technical competencies.* Monitors the collection and management of relevant data to a high standard of quality assurance and control.* Collect geological data including geological mapping, stream, soil, auger, rock chip samples, and describe samples as required to enable integration into geological interpretations.* Develop and manage working 3D models of exploration areas.*Project Generation** Applies knowledge of mineral system models, regional prospectivity, exploration methodologies and competitor activity to identify new opportunities and targets.* Helps to identify and rank new and existing exploration projects and targets and recommends mineral resource potential acquisitions.* Evaluate third-party data / information, provide a synthesis of exploration completed and outline exploration potential.*Safety, Health, Environment, Community** Ensure SSR policies and processes are followed in all work programs while leading by example.* Ability to recognize and stop any exploration activity deemed to be unsafe or likely to have an environmental impact due to inadequate management.* Implement SSR safety management systems and tools to manage safety risk.* Ensure legal duty of care associated with exploration is well understood for projects under your management, and that the wider team understands requirements.* Coach and influence SSR employees, partners and contractors on safety and health procedures.* Work with team members to ensure practical and proactive solutions are achieved for safety risks identified and ensure identified actions are implemented and closed out.* Ensure environmental management requirements are imbedded in all exploration programs and assist in implementing programs to manage environmental compliance.* As appropriate and required, complete stakeholder engagement (e.g. JV meeting presentations, local community liaison) and contractor management (e.g. drill supervision, soil sample supervision, geophysical contractor supervision).* Proficient in leading risk assessments to identify key HSEC and business risks and establishing controls to mitigate those risks.**Qualifications:*** Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written),* Strong leadership, management, communication, and project management skills.* Requires a university degree (BSc Hons or MSc) in Geosciences or Geological Engineering, with 10+ years exploration experience* Resource evaluation or mine experience* Substantial experience in contractor management* Qualified as a Competent Person (CP) under JORC or NI 43-101 or Equivalent preferred.* Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices, policies and procedures.* Advanced knowledge of geological principles and techniques, and ore-forming systems.* Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.* Excellent working knowledge of Leapfrog and ArcGIS software.* Willing to travel for extended periods of timeSSR Mining Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
