Compliance & Ethics Counsel – Data Privacy Manager Job Summary: The Legal Counsel – Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy is a permanent, full‑time manager role to be filled by an experienced data privacy professional. The successful candidate will have a strong legal background and a demonstrated interest and experience in digital and technology. The role sits within Accenture’s Ethics & Compliance function in Legal, reporting to the Global Data Privacy – Advisory Function Lead who oversees Data Privacy Advisory for Accenture globally. CIPP professional certification(s) or equivalents are preferred. Key Responsibilities Conduct Privacy by Design reviews for new or existing internal projects and/or business and other data privacy compliance strategic projects at regional and global scale. Provide subject‑matter expertise and support to internal corporate and business functions globally in respect of data privacy, legal compliance, privacy risk management, and privacy by design. Partner and interact with key business stakeholders and senior individuals to ensure data privacy issues are considered at the outset of new services, offerings, projects, products and initiatives. Conduct legal research, interpret and apply a risk‑based assessment of how legal requirements affect new services, offerings, projects, products or initiatives. Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and business teams and clients as needed. Effectively work with regional and local stakeholders to create and maintain suitable privacy review processes and embed privacy by design methodology into relevant business processes. Collaborate with other Data Privacy team roles on global Data Privacy initiatives and projects. Stay abreast of legal and regulatory developments related to data privacy and adjacent fields/topics, including technology trends and developments and their impact; develop guidance, training and thought leadership for internal audiences. Key Relationships Legal teams including Geographic Compliance & Corporate, Employment Law, Disputes & Litigation, eDiscovery, IP, Sourcing, and external counsel. Corporate Functions such as Global IT, Information Security, HR and other business stakeholders. Market Unit leadership. Data Privacy and Information Security leads globally. Related subject‑matter experts (e.g., security professionals, records retention SMEs, analytics, government compliance). Education and Experience University law degree (Master or comparable level). CIPP/CIPM or comparable privacy certification considered a plus. Minimum 7 years’ experience in global data privacy law and practice in a global company, preferably in the technology and IT sector. Experience and expertise with major national data privacy legislation and cross‑border privacy issues. Proficiency in English (both spoken and written). Knowledge of information and communication technologies or a technology degree/qualification. Experience monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating those into actionable requirements. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Demonstrated data privacy and data security expertise and command of global data privacy and related laws. Strong project/program management and operational skills to lead cross‑functional projects, especially in a multicultural environment. Ability to lead and work effectively remotely with a global team. Skill in explaining complex ideas, processes, or plans in simple terms, enhancing simplification. Creative thinking, independent and collaborative work across various levels, bridging different views and requirements. Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate company vision and policy, and to identify areas of risk and priority. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface and develop relationships with all levels of management and staff, working cross‑culturally. Confidence and credibility in dealing with internal management, senior personnel within corporate functions, outside counsel, and other legal team members. Consistent application of good judgment. Adaptability to changing business needs.
